This will let you do a comparative price analysis on a number of detergent powder brands.  Jot down on your prepared list those items that you think are of good quality and see which grocery stores offer the least price for the said item.  Also, take into account the size and weight of the item you are looking into. It might look cheaper because it is smaller in size or weighs less than what you find in other stores, so pay attention to details in this regard.

Stick to Your Budget

Learning how to save money on your grocery items usually starts with setting a budget for it, of course this would be in respect to the items that you need to buy. Also it is very important to pay for your purchased items in cash. Have some extra cash to set an allowance, just in case you have an emergency item to buy and is not on your list. Make this a habit, to set a budget for your purchases and stick to it. This applies not just on your grocery needs but whenever you need to buy anything.  By doing so you refrain yourself from buying items that you don’t really need. 

In buying perishable items such as canned goods, dairy products, juices and many other consumer items make it sure that you check out their expiration date before buying. Nobody would want to buy rancid milk, right?

For non-perishable items, it would be more practical to buy these items in bulk. Why? They cost less when purchased in bulk. But then again, it is under your discretion to judge if you really need to buy these items as you regularly use them or not.

One of the best ways you can do with how to save money is to look for items to buy that are on discounted prices. If you have your own email, you might have been annoyed before because you keep on receiving spam emails, usually containing discount coupons inside for various consumable items. You can also get similar coupons from the Internet; it may be on the product site itself or affiliate sites. Lifestyle magazines also have a number of discount coupons inside their pages for various items and you just need to cut them off from the page and collect if you need to before heading to a grocery store. These discount coupons are used for product promotion purposes and if you can collect as many as you can it will be huge savings for you each time you go to a grocery store.
