Goal of the Month:  Blog Your Weight Loss Journey

A question was posed on the OH message boards a while back: "To blog or not to blog?" The message board poster had her own blog site but was considering sharing her weight loss journey on her ObesityHelp.com blog. She wanted to know why other OH members found it helpful to blog their journey.  A few OH members shared their reasons for blogging their post-op journeys:

"I am blogging here since I figure that someday someone else may be like me and be reading other people's blogs trying to get a leg up on this whole thing and hopefully I will say something that will be helpful to them."-kahlana

"The reason is so that I have a record of how far I have come.  Trust me it comes in handy.  Our brains like to play tricks on us - like recently I felt like I had not lost any weight for about a month.  The scale is stuck!  Took a look at my blog and my weight loss and it has only been about 10 days!-" Sarah_Anne

"Blogging has been the best therapy for me!  #1 reason-It helps my friends and family understand what I am going through. There are some things that you cannot say. I can write...and the written word is powerful. It has helped people understand why some comments are hurtful...and why I struggle with certain things."-dragonflyshy

Are you blogging on your OH profile?  Your words and your personal journey can provide important support for your peers and those whom will travel down the weight loss surgery road behind you for years to come.  You can help to make a difference and receive support and inspiration from others too.  Blogging your journey allows you to be accountable, to pay it forward, and to receive support from others who understand your journey.  Make it a goal to blog at least once a week for the next month and beyond!
