Friday Speaker: Bec McDorman, MS, RDN

Bec McDorman discovered her passion for health and wellness after undergoing Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery in 2010 to lose more than 100lbs. She understands the importance of community support, such as ObesityHelp’s online forums and annual conferences, and connection with those who truly understand the weight loss surgery process. She also believes in the importance of working with nutrition professionals to achieve long-term weight loss success.

She was inspired to return to school to become a registered dietitian (RD) in order to help pre- and post-op bariatric patients with their journey. She completed her dietetic internship at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD in May 2017 and received her masters from Cal Poly Pomona in June 2017.

Knowing that nutrition and fitness go hand-in-hand, in 2012, she became a registered yoga teacher (RYT) through CorePower Yoga. She encourages yoga as a practice for all levels, as “there is no yoga perfect, only yoga practice!” She currently lives in Yakima, WA with her cats, Harmony and Paisley Blue.
