Exactly one year ago today, I walked into a hospital in Birmingham, AL alone in order to undergo gastric bypass surgery.  It all happened so fast - I made the decision to go by myself because it was something that I needed to do for ME.  The nurses thought I was crazy, but I made it.  In post-op and after recovery, I told my surgeon 'Let's get this party started because I have a hair appointment next Tuesday, and I HAVE to get my hair done EVERY week cuz Im a diva!"  He says he will never forget that.  The past year has been a great blessing and today I feel.....VERY blessed.  I no longer have diabetes or snore (lol).  I have lost 130 lbs to date - I may not be where I want to be, but I damn sure ain't where I was!   =)

So today, I will take the time to reflect on this past year and look forward to the future.  I have been given two tools - the surgery and OH.  I am grateful for all of the wonderful thoughts of encouragement that I have received here, as well as the conversations with fellow post-ops.  Today is my birthday - Happy Surgiversary to ME!!!    *tears*
