No longer will I be on Sept. 11 with Dr Hagen, but now I'm going NEXT TUESDAY, Sept. 9th with Dr. Quoc Huynh.
Rollercoaster ride - first they said the 16th, then 5 minutes later the 9th!
ok, better sooner than later!
I'm freaking out!!!.....Dr. Hagen assured me that Dr. Huynh trained with him and he's wonderful.

After being on the liquid diet for more than two weeks I feel a lot better (physically) but I sure am missing food (and, no, those Lean Cuisine/Healthy Choice things just don't count! :-)
My emotions are running all over the place. Excited one minute and terrified/anxious the next. Normally when I'm stressed I turn to food, big surprise. Not being able to do that now is maddening.

I have already lost 5 pounds and I am still very swollen and bloated! |

My daughter in law is having surgery in Bismarck at St. A's that same day but is not WLS. I am in the waiting stage to see if I am "accepted". I don't even know until I see Dr. Bruderer what type of bariatric surgery I will be having. Good luck to you and am anxious to see how you made out !

I wish I could offer you some great advice, or more helpful information. It sounds like you are doing everything you can do for success, but why it is eluding you, I can't say. I wanted to express that you are not alone in the struggling part however. I was banded June 18th, and have been struggling to loose as well. I have been discouraged that most of my weight loss was during the presurgery period. As soon as I was healed, I began excersizing like crazy. I have dropped clothing sizes since then, which I am glad about, but have felt most discouraged that the scales are not showing better results. I am struggling terribly with hunger, cravings, and stress, all of which make that 4 oz a meal, and no snacks very difficult to maintain. Some days feel like a cycle of frustration as I excersize so hard, try to be very strict with my eating, and then find no weight loss. I know that I must accept that any variation from the surgery center's diet/eating plan is only sabotaging my efforts and results. It is the most difficult struggle of my life to attempt to change these very strong patterns of behavior. Some how we must move forward toward our goals though, but certainly all the advice and support we can get will help. I hope that things will take a turn for the better for you soon. Perhaps we are seeing fat reverted to muscle in some of our lack of lbs lost, with all this increased physical activities? At least that is my hope and that soon, the scales will start giving me good news again. Good luck and keep us posted. |

I was smaller than I had ever been (even before having a child). I weighed 113 lbs and stayed active and took pretty good care of myself. I started to gain weight, and within 3 months, I was up to 130. I had no idea what was going on with me. By the time I turned 29, I was up to 165. I still had no idea of what was wrong. I was seeing an endocrinologist in Houston (I still see her) and she had me on diet pills and many other things that just were not helping. My blood pressure was rising, and I had developed diabetes. Her last resort was Lap Band surgery. So, in January of 2008, I had the surgery done. It was supposed to help me lose weight and get my health better because of the diabetes.
Well, 9 months later I am not happy with any of this. I now excercise way more than I ever did before. I walk for 30-40 minutes every morning before work, and then go the gym for 1 hour and 15 minutes every afternoon. I do this 5-6 days a week. And still barely any results. I totally watch what I eat and think I am following all dr's orders correctly. I am now down to 157. so, not much weight loss in 9 months, and I am very irriated and discouraged. Can anyone give me some encouragement, tips, what to do, what not to do.....when am I going to see some positive results? |

my surgery is on the 15th as well and I started a weird diet Tuesday. I am allowed 3 protein shakes per day ( each meal 3 hours apart) and 2 small meals. I can only have 3oz. of lean protein and 2 cups of salad (thank jesus) and my other meal is a forzen entree < 300 calories but >15 grams of protein.
What type of diet are you on? |

I am reading to keep my mind off food. I still have to work so my day is not too bad, but come night time I have struggled. I have my "cool drink" and then go off to the bed and read!
Good Luck to all out there! |

As all of you Samurai's know, there is so much emotional and physical preparation. You go through such a roller coaster ride as your date approaches. But now I feel like my roller coaster just stopped at the top of the big climb and now I am suspended there.
Well, chin up right? It is not the end of the world, the good news is I am healthy, alive, and will eventually get my surgery. I need to regroup and not get depressed. I will do my best to keep high spirits and healthy in the coming weeks.
This is a fluke so I do not want to freak any of you out and I will still be watching over this group and keeping positive thoughts for each of you to have a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery!

I won't have a time until the 12th, luckily the hospital is only 15 minutes away from me so I can stay at home until it's time. I was going to say "luckily I can sleep in my own bed until it's time", but we all know we WON'T be getting much sleep on the 14th.
I'll be thinking good thoughts for all of you during our wait.

Hi all: I'm about to look into weight loss surgery and I live in Staten Island. Was wondering if anyone had their surgery through United Surgical? Are they good surgeons for this type of surgery.
I heard of Dr. Nicastro or Dr. McCullen. Any one know of them?
Thanks for any responses you can give to me. |

I only have to be on a liquid diet for 2 days prior to surgery and I am scheduled to be 2nd in line, but I have to check into the hospital at midnight before my surgery. I live 3 hours away from where I will be having surgery so I have booked the whole week at a local hotel for hubby to stay and then when I get out of the hospital 4 days later, I will be staying an extra 2 days as recommended by my surgeon, just incase I have any problems since there is no one in my area experienced with this surgery.
I will definitely be thinking of all of you! |
