ive managed to save up 9 grand but i need a car and i want the surgery,why are we who are on medicaid being discriminated against i think the doctors should take medicaid and private pay,i have yet to find a doctor in alabama who will take meidcaid and does anyone know how much gls or lapband cost,im so tired of trying all these diets and not loosing weight and im tired of having to take meds for lupus,diabetis and depresion i watch videos on youtube of how happy everyone is after there surgery,and i want that to be me,ive been looking 7 years and im about to give up please help me

Tammy there is doctors who still do take private pay.   I do not know right off hand what the cost is for private pay.    Medicaid is not the only one that discrimates,  there is tons of patients out here who would love to have surgery but their insurance will not and does not cover weight loss surgery.  I think that my surgeon does the take self pay and he is in Anniston.

I have a friend that had surgery in Huntsville, Alabama by Dr. Mailapur and the only insurance she had was medicaid!  She is 5 years post op and doing great and I am attending one of his seminars on the 21st of this month and they know all I have is medicaid also when I talked to them to schedule a consult and they told me to go to the seminar and they would call me with the consult appointment! Hope this helps!
