Topic: X-post Colorado Peeps

Hi Colorado folks, we are not 100% sure, but DH & I may be in the Denver area & then the mountains along I-70 in about a week. We would love to meet some of you in person if timing allows. We expect to be in Denver for the weekend and maybe Monday & Tuesday, then off to the mountains for some skiing, skating, and cross country. I want to try out my new skated on Keystone lake. You can respond, or PM me, we might even be able to get a group together for a SoCal style meet up. I will know more in a few days, if I get the job I applied for, we may have to cancel the trip at the last minute.

Has anyone had any experience with getting a revision approved with medicaid? I had my RNY in 2006 and I am considering a revision because of weight gain and severe anemia. Has anyone dealt with this?

2013:  20 Funny New Year's Resolutions

When it comes to New Year's resolutions, our family members and friends can get quite creative and even funny with what they resolve to do in the New Year.  Here a few good ones I have heard along the way...Oh, and a few of my own!

1.  I resolve to stop procrastinating about procrastinating!

2.  I will stop sending Facebook messages and emails to my loved ones when they are in the same room as I am!

3.  I will use my treadmill for something other than a place to hang my jacket.

4.  I will not sit at the kitchen table in my PJ's all day.  Instead, I will move my computer to my bedroom.

5.  I vow to never take a laxative and a sleeping pill on the same night!

Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!

Hi, that's strange because I received a call from Dr. Long's assistant I think her name was Christie, she said that as of today which was Friday, November 2nd Dr. Metz is no longer with us.  And we talked about rescheduling everything with Dr. Long.  Maybe something else is happening....

On that note...the office staff is awesome!!! I am getting very excited about December, but just a little worried because of no answer yet from the insurance company.  I have done everything I was expected to do so we shall see.  Maybe because my surgery date was so far out from the finishing of my last class they are taking their time? Thank you for your response I really appreciate it!

Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!

It took about 10 days to get my approval I think. I'm confused by your post, I just saw Dr Metz a few days ago...As long as you've done all the pre-requirements (6 months of weightloss classes etc) you'll get approved. The office staff is very thorough and will make sure everything is golden! I'm very happy with the level of treatment that I've received there!! Best of luck to you your Dec. date will be here before you know it!

God bless!

Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!

Hi Caligirl!  I also have medicaid and I'm going through Dr. Metz office, but he is no longer there as of last week.  Can you tell me how long it took for medicaid to approve you? I am in about the same boat as you, but my BMI is higher with no co-morbidities. I am scheduled for December but have not yet been approved. They are transferring my surgery over to Dr. Long he is in the same office and also accepts Medicaid.

Congrats on your surgery... I hope all is well!!!

Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!

In response to all the ?s about MediCaid coverage for WLS in Colorado- I ended up having my surgery with Dr Metz at Parker Adventist hospital on 10-16-2012. He is an incredible surgeon and his staff was top notch. They are a Center of Excellence facility and it shows! Everything is done in house i.e. Nut, Psych, Seminar & weightloss classes and I had ZERO out of pocket expense!! I was approved with straight MediCaid with a BMI of 40.1 and no co-morbidities. See above posts for address & phone #

God bless!

Hi Ladies it is now 11/2 -- are you on at all? How did it go and how are you doing now? I have one more piece of information to go and they can submit my paperwork for insurance approval. Would really like to hear how things are going if you are up to telling. :) I know it is hard and I hope you are doing well.

Topic: RE: Where are all the Colorado folk?

Hi Cheryl

This is my first time back on this site since surgery. I am still in the early recovery stages so..... I have found the OH site to be an excellent source of information and "real" human chatter on everything relating to this process. Use it there are a ton of very knowledgeable people on this site. Good luck in your journey and yes keep me posted. I am finding that the more support you have the better.

Topic: RE: Where are all the Colorado folk?

Hi Knitty

Just plugging along since surgery had a dry heaves issue that kept in the hospital till 10/25. Good to be home. My first support meeting isn't until December. Highlands Ranch is the closest to me. I had been scheduled for one in Nov. but it was canceled. I have found the OH to be a great resource and support. I too have Kaiser but had Dr. Husain; she is great! Keep in touch I am so happy to see how great you have done. Any pointers?

Topic: RE: Where are all the Colorado folk?

Hi, new to this blog. I am scared silly about the upcoming surgery and how it is going to change my life. I do not have the surgery scheduled yet -- waiting on one last piece of data for the insurance/bariatric surgeon. Love to keep in touch. Love the support as well.

Topic: RE: Where are all the Colorado folk?
Hi! I'm in Superior. I had VSG on 5/15/12 with Dr. Chae. As of today I am down 103 pounds. It is the best decision I have made - only wish I had done it sooner! I have Kaiser and go to support group meetings once per month. The meetings have been great and are really helpful so I definitely recommend attending if it's something that is offered for you. Looks like you should be 6 days post-op today. Let us know how you're doing!
