Topic: RE: Hi, Long Time No See
I started at 366 - now weight 143. Wearing at 36D bra!! I will post updated pictures of before/after this weekend on Facebook, which is where I post now - under Jeanie Ader. No bullies need apply to be a friend.  Life's too short to share in their misery.

Our dear Maureen is very ill. Please send her good and healing thoughts as they try to figure out what is going on.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

(Sorry if my fonts are funky. I haven't posted in years, it seems, and this whole site has changed.)

Love and huggers to most of you,
Jeanie

Topic: RE: 4 year Surgiversary!!
Happy Surgiversary! Kathy, I still wish I had your tatas.  They look fabulous.

I treasure your friendship, too. I don't post here anymore because so much has changed, but we sure did have a great group having surgery around the same time, didn't we? And we stay in touch. You are definitely one of the "good guys!"

I've lost 200 lubs! I can't imagine carrying that around now. My head is still trying to catch up to my body, but I'll get there.
Enjoy all of your blessings. You deserve them and so much more. I'm still looking for a SWAT guy for you. Rich Emberlin is taken, but there are more out there.

Topic: RE: Update

Update: Awhile back I received 2 e-mails (not wise) and 1 phone call (really not wise!) threatening me. Three people have been identified. I recognized one name from here. OH was not used for the communication, as far as I know. For all the guff lawyers get, it sure is nice to have a $hark in my corner.

I may be back sometime, but right now I don't need the negativity (mine, included) like that which was brewing before I took a break. I think everyone who has been here 2-3 or more years needs to take a look at why they are still here and be honest with themselves about it. I did.

That's all, folks.

Jeanie - Out ivin' the good post-DS life!

Wow. That is a lot of information. Thank you! Interesting about the anorexia nervosa. I know we have some either headed in that direction or already parked there.  I find it especially interesting because it is from the website of the fellow doing the mini gastric bypass. *shudder*

Sure. I get the kind that has the seasoning pack in it. I dump the package, juices, and seasoning into the pressure cooker, fill it up to cover it with water, and cook it at the higher pressure for about 1.5 hours. Most recipes online say for 1 hour, but I like mine more tender. Sometimes I add diced onions for more flavor. If I want to cook cabbage and potatoes with it, I put that in for 10 more minutes - just do the quick release, put the cabbage wedges and potatoes cut into 1/4s in, salt them, and bring the pressure back up. Be sure to take some of the water out if it makes it too full.. not supposed to have it over 3/4 full, I think. Jeanie

Topic: RE: Linda S Emergency Surgery - Prayers Please

Linda is in my prayers. I know she had been trying to avoid this for a long time. I'm glad they got her taken care of before the bowel ruptured. I'm sure she's all kerfuffled right now, but hopefully things will settle down for her and she will have an easy recovery. Thank you for letting us know, Kathy. She is a special friend, I know.

Both of my arms are out of order. I told the orthopedic surgeon that all I can do is flap my arms like the robot on Lost in Space. Jeanie

I screwed mine up once, and Amy fixed it. Send her a message and maybe she can help.  I had everything centered, and I couldn't uncenter it. It's a simple command, but somehow it got stuck that way and I couldn't fix it. Jeanie

Good for you. Planting! I need to get outside and get things ready for Fall. Hubby planted boxwoods all around our patio this year with interspersed patio lights. The shrubs will eventually grow bigger, but right now the lights look good in between them. What did I eat yesterday? Lots of protein. We went to a surprise b'day party for hubby's boss. She was actually surprised. So was I -- the food sucked big time. Spinach salad, cold salmon with icky dill sauce, cold pasta with icky cheese chunks, cold almost raw green beans with almond slivers and no flavor, rolls with fluffy fake butter. We stopped and got me some fried chicken wings on the way home.  I cooked another corned beef brisket in the pressure cooker and froze the slices. I should be set for a long while. That's 3 I have in the freezer. (Thinking ahead for when I'll only have 1 arm.) Jeanie

Isn't it amazing how love can grow so much? When we get married, we think we can never be more in love than then. I don't know about you, but I didn't really know what love was then compared to now.

Jeanie, incredibly blessed to be with Mr. Jeanie and thankful every day to have found him

After ODing on protein on Wednesday, I backed off a bit yesterday. I still got in over 100 grams. Increasing the protein has dropped 2 lubs. :-)  Jeanie

Hi, Beverly!! Don't worry too much about the wound vac. You will get used to it quickly, and it really helps things heal up quickly. Let me know if you have any questions once you get it.

It sounds like you are doing well. That is good news!

Topic: RE: Protein First... Yea, yea, yea....
Oh, I never thought of "protein first" meaning to literally eat that first on your plate. I always considered it meant that once you had your protein in, everything else was fair game. My eating habits vary. Sometimes I'll mix stuff, sometimes I'll eat protein first, sometimes I'll eat something else first. I usually mix things up, but I've been known to eat my potatoes all up before I start on the meat.  Jeanie

Topic: RE: DS Requirements
I remember looking at Dr. F. when I first started researching the DS. I am not sure even he does the DS. You will want to find that out, of course. I've heard others say the guys in Chicago reserve the DS for the higher BMIs. I think Dawn's (Starry1st) cousin was dealing with that. Keep searching. It is SO worth the effort! Jeanie

Topic: RE: bladder problems post DS
It could be several things, more than likely not kidney but involving the bladder or urethra. It could be a bladder infection or spasms. It could have "fallen" again. It might be a urethral stricture. I've had that off and on since childhood. They go in and dilate the urethra. *crosses legs at the thought* In fact, I need it done again, but I'm putting it off. They do that in the office. Try "double voiding." Go potty, then get up and walk around for a few minutes and go back and potty again. Sometimes that works well.  I hope you figure out what is going on. You should have your doc check it out. Jeanie

Topic: RE: What's for Dinner?!?!
I got the Kuhn pressure cookers. First, I bought the really big one. It's too big for most things I cook, so I got the set with a smaller pot and a pressure fry pan. The lids are interchangeable, so I have an extra lid if I ever need it. They really are idiot proof. I use mine at least once a week.  Jeanie

I wouldn't use one of the old ones, either. I inherited my grandmother's, but I won't touch it. I bought one of the idiot-proof ones. Two of them, actually, because I can be a very big idiot. Love 'em!

I am cooking another corned beef brisket in the pressure cooker. I'll nibble on that all evening. It's so tender made that way. I will probably have some cabbage with it. Jeanie
