Hi,  I just moved to Port Orange Florida.   I'm looking for a primary care physician who is knowledgeable about gastric bypass surgery.  Can anyone recommend someone?

I am looking into WLS and right now I have straight medicaid. As of july 1st it will be switching to either HealthEase or United Healthcare (medicaid) Does Dr. Hoddinott take either of those? If not which surgeons do in Florida? Im willing to travel!!!

 I live in gainesville, looking for a group also let me know if you find one and Ill do the same!

 Getting the sleeve in July, I go to school in Gainesville and I want to start attending a group...also I will be getting the surgery at home in naples and will be there for around 6 weeks so knowing of a group there would be good too, I want to be with family when I have it done, but I need a good one in gainesville since this is where I am majority of the time. thanks! 

Can anyone tell me the names of Plastic surgeons that accept Medicare/medicaid?  I live in Florida - but am willing to travel when the time comes.

Hey! I am happy to hear you are having the surgery! I had my RNY on November 10th 2011 and I reached a 100 lbs lost this week! Dr. H is awesome! He is a very fast paced doctor but he addresses everything you need him too. He is great. It took me about 2 weeks to fully be able to get around with out being exhausted but the pain subsided tremendously after about 4 or 5 days. Just remember to follow the diet and drink lots of water! Make sure to take all your blood thinning shots so you do not get blood clots and make yourself move around. The more you do that the faster you recover! I am only 7 months out and I have only had one minor issue which was where the scare tissue around my stomach opening healed to tight but Dr, H went in through an Upper GI, stretched it and 10 minutes later I was all better. But that was only becasue my body creates large amounts of scar tissue. Hope this helps and feel free to add me to your friends! I live in Grand Island behind the Lake Square Mall!! Good Luck!!

hi I am looking for a local support group in the Lakeland area. I moved to Lakeland and would like to hook up with a group. I had my surgery 4 years ago and have regained 25 lbs. was at 290 now at 175. was down to 143 but felt miserable so i got up to 150 and stayed there for a couple of years then it went up to 175 . I had breast cancer 2 years ago and the stress from that and then my daughter was diagnois with cancer in her lymph nodes and that just had more stress., but thank God we both are cancer surviors now, and I need all the help I can get to get these lbs. off. I did the 5 day pouch test but nothing. I exercise daily and now starting to do daily walking.  Any advice is welcomed.

Hi I am a new member to the site and looking for some friends who would be willing to encourage me as well as be encouraged. I live in Jacksonvlle area, but don't mind making friends in any part of FL. I will be having my surgery on Friday (May 4th), and would really like some advice on how to get thru the next two weeks of pure liquid.
