Where in Hawaii do you all live?

Okay, I know alot of people stop by and just don't post. Maybe this will get things started.

I live in Hanapepe

On Kauai

In Hawaii

I live in Volcano on The BI.

Hi Tom,

Your surgery type says "other". What type did you have?

I haven't been to the Big Island in a few years. My mother in law lives in Papaikou.

Aloha Kamehanaokala, I had a variation of the Mini Gastric Bypass called One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass.  I've listed a couple of links to it under the MGB forum here. Tom
I live in Ewa Beach.  Anyone one else in this neck of the woods? Carmen

People are raving about Lion King. Did you get a chance to see it? Or are you going? I'm waiting for some ridiculous airfares.........like $9 one way or something. Then i'll pull the kids outta school and book the Lion King. And shop too!

aloha,

michelle

Hey Carmen I am in Pearl City not too far from you.
Danie
Hi Michelle! Wow, you look just great!!!  I am so happy for you that the VSG worked for you!!! If you don't remember me, check your support page, I was the first person to post.  I welcomed you to the Hawaii Board and mentioned that Dr. Cirangle was also my surgeon. I had lap rny on January 10, 2005, which makes it almost 3 years.  It's hard to believe that much time has passed.  I've since had an abdominoplasty (complete tummy tuck) last year in April. I started at 263 pounds and am now 128 pounds.  I am also only 5 feet tall, so I was really morbidly obese. I live in Kaneohe on the island of Oahu.  If you ever are in my area, let me know, I would love to get together.Take care and God Bless you and your family.  Have a Happy Holiday Season!!! Aloha,  Pat Nicely   -------  P.S.  By the way, I just saw the Lion King last Sunday.  It is really awesome!! Actually, I'm going again on December 6th.  I just can't get enough of it.  I'm sure you and your children would really enjoy it!  Hope you get to see it.  Check on the tickets, because the show ends on December 9th.

I soooo wanna go to Lion King but am waiting for Go! to roll out some el-cheapo tickets. I'm really trying to be tight with my cash as I want a TT next summer and have already scheduled my first consult on 2/8. Yes, i remember you. And who did your TT? Are you happy with your results? Did insurance help pay for that? How long have you lived in Kaneohe? Where did you grad from? LOL......so many questions. So my PS consult will be done by my cousin who now lives in Pasadena but used to live in Kaneohe and graduated from Punahou.

aloha,

michelle

Where did you live before?

I used to live in California. What a difference huh? Everything is so green compared to there. I cant believe how fast time is going. I went to go pick up my lovanox(sp) and that will be weird giving myself a shot in the stomach lol. How's everyone else doing?

Where in California did you live? I used to live in San Pedro until I was 6. We moved here right before I started the 2nd grade. My sister now lives in Carlsbad and my mom is in Morro Bay. Don'cha just love it here?

Lovenox-ahhhhh, it's such a fricken head trip self administering those. Did the lady on the phone explain to you you basically grab your roll.......and the needle will slide right in, like you're sticking it right into butter? It really is an easy process, doesn't really hurt but just to know that you are stabbing yourself is so weird. You'll do fine though and it'll be so worth it when you get back to Hawaii, strip down, jump on that scale and be like WOW!!! And it'll start melting off from there.

Do you leave on Sunday or Monday?

michelle

I lived in the central valley, near Fresno. Pretty much in a little town of nothing. LMAO!! All of my family lives in San Jose though. Thats where I will be staying after surgery. I leave on Tuesday and arrive in San Jose at 9:05 P.M. Surgery is scheduled for 3 the next day.  That will be soooo weird injecting myself. The nurse told me that its not all that bad. We'll see how it goes. I dont really have a fear of needles so it should be okay. Oh guess what!! Nicole at Dr. Cirangles office-I LOVE her btw!!! Great woman-got my psych eval. She said you werent kidding when you told me she was a jerk. I'm not stressing about it anymore though. Surgery is scheduled, I have my plane tickets. Life is good. I ordered the book, the emotional first aid kid, a practical guide to life after bariatric surgery from amazon and I ordered a cook book for post ops. I was telling Nicole that its so sad that I had such a bad experience at that hospital because I will never go back there for counseling and what have you. I would rather get referred out in town than go there again. So I am armed with books for life post-op and I'm going to go to support groups. Do you go to any meeting or anything?

The manager at the local Curves has had RNY. She holds a meeting every other month for anyone who has had any type of WLS and people who are just interested in learning more. It's really low key. Our last meeeting topic was Protein. It's alright. I feel like I learn more this board though!!!! I can come in here anytime and someone is here. I think Dr. Cirangle has a meeting on Oahu every few months. I believe it is posted on his website you could email Nicole.

ps-if you look on Bariatriceating.com, there are tons of recipes for drinks and foods for "life after". Check it out!

What, no Black Friday shopping for goal skinny clothes today? The day before surgery, we were shopping. That is when I bought my goal pants, Size 8 DKNY, no stretch pants. I cant believe I can wear them!!! I think i'll stay outta the stores cause my 3 kids would drive me more crazy than the horrendous amount of shoppers. LOL

Have a good weekend!
