MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!

Hello Members,

On a daily basis we get calls from members in desperate need of surgeons that will accept Medicaid and or Medicare for Bariatric surgery.  It breaks our hearts when we have to say "we don't know of any surgeons in your state we can refer you to". 

Can you please help us? If you know of any surgeons in your state that accepts Medicaid and or Medicare, will you list their:

I would recommend checking with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  319-356-1616.  You might get answers from the bariatric clinic but if they don't help you, ask for the media department.  They might like to get the word out.  I think UIHC is the best chance because it is a state hospital. 

Hey OH Staff!  Well the surgeon's team I am working with right now accepts Medicaid for sure.  I know this because I am on it.  My surgeon's name is Teresa LaMasters & she works with Dr. Eibes of the Des Moines Bariatric Team of Iowa Health Systems.  Hope that helps!

Thankyou, I was just looking her up earlier and wondered if she takes Medicare. I'm interested in surgery, although I'm scared. 

Grinnell Hospital and surgical associates also accepts Medicade and Medicare.

Dr. Kyle VerSteeg of Iowa Bariatrics in Ft. Dodge accepts medicaid.  1-800-684-1317.  He did my surgery 10-18-06 and I couldn't be happier.  Now I'm looking for a plastic surgeon who will accept medicare-medicaid, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I do know  Dr.Glas**** In Cedar Falls Iowa and University of Iowa H&C will accept  both Medicaid and Medicare..I have both insurances and they  do pay ..SleepinDove6 ( Jeanie) P.S. phone number  for Dr. Glas**** is  1-319-268-3990...........  \for the University of Iowa H & C         is  1- 319-356-1887..    this is the number  for the  UI Obesity surgery Dept.. The Mercy Center for Weight Reduction in Des Moines works with medicaid because I am going through them.
