OH YEAH, it's Monday again, isn't it? How did you do on goals last week? Mine went okay, didn't get to work out Thursday and Friday because Open House and a migraine, but did get a work out in Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, too. Eating is okay, just still watching things. Here are goals: 1) KEEP FOOD AND EXERCISE LOG AGAIN!!! 2) Stay sane at work, work to keep my mouth shut and stay positive! 3) Go to support group meeting this Wednesday (and drag Jesi's butt there, too )! 4) Limit the snacking to one time in the evening. 5) Keep up with the protein drinks. 6) Print this out for home and school. What are your goals now? Question of the week: What kind of music do you like to listen to? I love a lot of different music, but listen to Christian music mostly. Right now, I am into the bands Selah and Third Day. I also enjoy some Paul Simon - his music with the African singers. Don't really listen to country music often unless it is while dancing at a wedding reception. Hope you all have a phenomenal week! God bless, Andrea

Hello Well, I'm doing better, now just if I can stop itching. I have tape all over my stomach. Having to change my dressing from a total abdominal hysterectomy daily. Can't do it myself, cause you need 4 hands. Otherwise, I'm feeling great! I'm driving again. School has started, boy, is it stressful. Especially when you get out on a Friday, and the next following Monday, you're at school. I'm getting better. I'm actually walking a little more every day. The same surgeon that did my Gastric Bypass also did my hysterectomy. I had to miss the support group where he talked about the tummy tucks, and showed pictures. I got to see what I would look like after my tummy tuck. WOW!!! I'm planning for it next summer. I want to finish school first. At least try to. I have 40 more pounds to go, then the surgeon tells me I must stop. Goals: Walk a little more and drink more water. I listen to Country and Gospel, I like Michael W. Smith, I like all country especially the song Don't ride a horse Ride a Cowboy. - Don't remember the artist. Take Care and Have a great Week! Love Lisa Young

Lisa, Girl, you had better start healing up! Are you taking your vitamins like you are supposed to? How about the protein? Hopefully, you can get things under control soon. Glad to hear that you are so close to goal. Keep up the good work. God bless, Andrea

Hi, Well, my only goal for me at this time is to maintain my current weight (and stay away from Mike & Ike candy). I am jumping around between 177-180. I will keep doing my bike riding. Been working on our house - put up window trim (6) this past weekend and replaced bedroom doors (2) that our kids busted up years ago. Trying to re-finance at this point. Carol pulled out the the living/dining room carpeting- was more holes than carpet. Now have hardwood floor. Keep up all the hard work everybody. Lester 354/180/180

Hey Lester, glad that you're here. Did you decide to add a protein drink or eat a little more so you will maintain? Glad that you are still riding the bike - good for the ole ticker! Listen to all those things that you and Carol are doing - would you have done all those things at 300 and some pounds? Sounds like the house will be nice when you are finished! Keep up the good work - you too, Carol!! (Carol, still looking for pics of you!) God bless, Andrea

Happy Happy Monday All....... Well I think I did pretty good. One of my goals last week was to do something nice for my kids.... I did their dad and I went out Saturday and I got them a baby sitter (they love Megan). But the rest were okay... nothing special. I lost another 3 pounds Thank you Father for every ounce you have allowed me to loose. Have you ever figured out how much you have lost in kilograms? Ounces? and of course pounds it is fun.... Total pounds: 57 Total Kilograms: 125.4 Total Ounces: 912 Wow when we measure in KG and Ounces it looks like a ton. Funny that is just the way we gained it. My goals for this next week: 1. Find something good each day to count as a blessing. 2. Drink more water 3. Take my vitamins 4. Choose more healthy eats 5. Do atleast 2 days of exercise. 6. Tell someone that is struggling that I am here for them. Music: I love all kinds of music. In the OR if I am working with Dr. Silva (best breast man for lumps ever) we listen to opera. Mostly in my car I listen to KLOVE a Christian radio station. If my kids are around I listen to an AM station of Radio Disney. Have a wonderful week.... Hugs to all Melinda 252/195/135 BPD/DS 06/28/04

Hi, Melinda, Congrats on the 3 pounds. Okay - if there are 16 oz in a pound and I have lost around 125 pounds, that is 2000 oz. WOWWW That does look like a lot!! Cool goals - I especially like # 6. Gotta love that music - didn't know that there was a Disney Radio station, though. Keep up the good work and God bless, Andrea

Heya Andrea (and all) I'm doing well this week. I wanted to go back to work this week, but talked to my surgeon earlier today, he said next Monday will be the soonest that I'll go back. Aug 31 was my surgery date. I am down 30 lbs. I have had one slight complication: The lovenox shots did cause an allergic reaction, so I'm off of those. That doesn't really hurt my feelings, since they hurt so much! There was a picture taken of my surgery and published in the Des Moines Register. My first goal this week is to do something absolutely wonderful for my husband and daughter, who have both waited on me hand and foot, and made this whole thing so very easy -- I feel that I've cheated the surgery because everything has been so very easy for me. They fix my "meals" of broth. If I even think of water, there is a dixie cup in my hand within 30 seconds. They both count every ounce of water and ensure that I get all 64 oz in. They count every gram of protein for me and make sure I get my 60 grams in. They rub my feet, put on my ted hose (a real treat for any man...hahaha). They give me showers. They've both began walking with me...I'm up to 1 mile a day now. I mean, holy moly. Talk about a support group. They track my vitamins and all the rest of my meds. I couldn't ask for two people who are really going gung ho on doing absolutely everything they can to make this life change bearable for me -- even though I'm really not in any discomfort in any way. I mean, I really can't believe the support that the two of them have given. They've cleaned the house, spotlessly, even better than I do. Anyway, I'm so very blessed by having such a wonderful family. I don't deserve them, and they both have just showed nothing but love and generosity these past two weeks. My second goal is to only weigh 1x a week. I learned today that weighing daily (which is what I had been doing) isn't really good for me. The nurse said it's like trading one obession for another. So, only weigh 1x/week. Sorry for the rambling. Oh, and my favorite music is contemporary Christian. And Talk Radio. Not really music but that is what I listen to while in the truck. Have an awesome week -- I know I will. Thanks!!!!

Hey K, Glad that you are feeling well enough to go back to work. Also glad that your surgeon recommends more time off. I pushed it a little bit and was really wiped out my first week back to school. Wow - I am envious of the support that you have. I shouldn't really say that cuz my hubby was wonderful, just had his hands full with a 1 year old and 6 year old. My teenager was helpful, too. Certainly, be sure to do something special for your hubby and daughter to show your appreciation! I agree with the nurse - no more weighing every day. It will only frustrate you when you hit a plateau. I don't even own a scales yet. Do you have a link to the Des Moines register picture and article? It would be neat to read. Contemporary Christian music - yeah - talk radio - YUCK!! My hubby likes it too, so I do listen to that when in HIS truck! Have a great week and God bless, Andrea

I so look forward to Monday night and reading eveyones goals. (among the other posts) I guess my goals are to continue drinking water and eating protein, even though I am still pre op. Made it through the pre op tests a couple of weeks ago and now have to have a sleep study. They scheduled that for Oct 5th. More waiting........BUT you know what they say...... good things come to those who wait! As for music....anything goes (except rap, no offense to Jesi and Eminem ). In my truck I have a variety of CD's ranging from John Tesh A Deeper Faith, Charlie Brown Christmas sound track, George Winston December, Mannheim Meets Mouse (awesome to clean house to),a mix of Journey, Rod Stewert, pop tune odds and ends. ER sound track. It just all depends on my mood. Blessings to all Sheila

Sheila, You are well on your way to that life-changing date of October 5th. Really, it's not that far away. You are welcome to put goals here also and we look forward to your post-surgical weekly goals. It certainly sounds like you love different kinds of music! Have a great week and God bless, Andrea

Carolyn, Good job on your goals. Enjoy your mentoring - it is very rewarding. I rely on my buddies (all of you) a lot for support!! Too funny that you are now experiencing the same things with music that you put your parents through. Hope that you enjoy Barbara Thompson. She is coming here soon. God bless, Andrea

Janet, Hey, gf, how are you??? Wow - your hubby is in Japan? I would go nuts as I'm sure you are with everything your kids are involved in! During your time alone, work on those goals - especially watching the grazing. (I am doing much better with that now that I am back in school. I can't eat what I don't have around me and there are no cupboards here that know my name. ) Now, why would you not be happy? Do we need to take you dancin' again? Let's see - the feet - still experiencing some numbness in both feet. I go see the doc tomorrow afternoon for it. I still think that because of the weight loss and readjusting of my body size, something is being pinched in my back and affecting my feet. I often get what I describe as "tinglies" that goes up my back - kind of at an angle. I also sometimes get feelings like something is crawling on one of my feet - but nothing is there. Who knows, maybe I need the psychologist more than my doc?!?!? Hopefully will know more tomorrow. I just knew that you were going to say that you loved Chicago! Have a great week and God bless, Andrea P.S. How are Jack and Kelley doing?
