Post Date: 9/30/04 7:27 pm One year is Oct 06 ;176 pounds later; has been a long road but well worth it. I am healthier, no more diabetic medicine, no bi-pap machine to sleep with, more energy, more active, better attitude most of the time.
I used to get out of bed, go to the living room and lay on the couch, got up to use restroom or get something to eat and back to the couch watching tv and then back to bed. Not even enough energy to go to the local Walmart store and too much foot pain to walk through the store. Now I have no problems going shopping or walking short distances (I have neuropathy in my feet which the weight loss has helped some but it will never go away.) My wife Carol had told me about a co-worker that had the RNY done and the results she had and I got curious as a way to get my life back. That is how I got to the surgery. The diabetic medication I was on caused weight gain which meant an increase in the medication which meant more weight gain, etc. This has been a life saver for me because I was a walking heart attack and/or stroke waiting to happen. My PCP is very happy with where I am at now with my health. Also to Andrea; don't care for chocolate but I do love my Mike & Ike candies.
This is a tool that works if you work with it. Appreciate everybodies encouragement since I found this site. Especially Andrea!
Thank You to everyone.
