Hi-

Yes, there are monthly support group meeting available for the various types of surgeries. You can check out the Suburban Surgical Bariatric Center website.  They are part of the Kane Center.  There is a $10.00 charge for each support group.  It is a great group of folks.  The group is conducted at their Hoffman Estates offices-->Right off of Rte 59 & the Kennedy.

Good luck!

Hello All!

Oh, Lisa, so sorry for Annette's fire.  As everyone has said, how devastating.  Remind me where she lives again?  Glad everyone is ok, and they found the second cat, but I can't imagine how difficult it is to lose some of your life belongings in a fire.  Prayers for her and her family.

Chris and Nancy...haven't done the lilies yet.  I spent Saturday buying and then planting my annual flowers and also planted the planters that I will take out to the cemetery over Memorial Day.  My sister and I used to do that together, but the last 2 years and this year, I will do it alone, while placing flowers on her grave.  That pain just doesn't go away!

Crystal, positive vibes and prayers going up for your interviews...and your car.  When you were describing the noise, I was wondering if something on the exhaust was dragging, but if you looked underneath and didn't see anything....hopefully Charles can find out what is wrong...and it is nothing big!  If he doesn't find anything, I would think you could take it to a mechanic (maybe Chas/parents know someone in the area) and ask them for estimate of what is wrong, and tell them you are getting estimates.  That way, you will at least know what might be wrong and the cost.

Nancy, glad you found your Red Lobster card.  I enjoy going there and a gift card makes it even better!

I am looking forward to Monday off!  No big plans, but Chloe should be up so maybe we can ride bikes...if it's not REALLY HOT and HUMID!

Dawn, are you having any luck with your job search?  RE: Todd and baling hay..having been raised on a farm (we didn't bail but I know plenty who did) it is a very HOT, STICKY, itchy job!  That darn hay sticks to everything, including your skin, and it is HARD work!

Well, better run for now.  Everyone have a super day.

Georgie

Thanks so much. Someone else suggested increasing my liquid intake too.
I'll try to up the protein a little. I'm trying for 75g a day. Maybe close to 100 is better. We'll see.
Also hard with no family support. My husband think I should eat no more than the size of a hardboiled egg at meals.
I don't know how to explain it to him that they didn't remove my stomach. LOL
Thanks again.

Good Morning Everyone!

It is Friday eve for me as I only work today and tomorrow this week and then I am off for the rest of the week    The only thing exciting in my corner of the world is after I fell at work in March, I was sent to the hospital and now workmans comp is refusing to pay.  I am in the process of getting my employer to pay for this visit they insisted I make.  They WILL pay for it because I sure am not.  GRRRR.

Lisa, my thoughts have been with you all day yesterday and today.  Have you heard anything further on Annette's house?  How is she doing?  Is there anything I can do to help?  I do have some extra things if she needs something.

Dawn, it is hard to believe it is almost time for the air show again.  I like the idea of your neighborhood garden.

Chris, I take all the sleep I can get.  The more the better.

Georgie, I am with Chris, did you get your lilies divided?

Crystal, good luck on your interview today!  You WILL knock them dead!  Positive vibes being sent out to you!

Have a great day everyone!

Good  Morning,

First, Thank you to everyone who was concerned about us yesterday. We are all fine. The 2 middle townhouses are about 50% gone. Annettes and her neighbor. The two end ones, one is fine,  the other has water damage and a bit of burn. Chris, that was my first reaction too. But it was an electrical plug outside next door to them that was shorting out. It had an old cord of xmas lights pluged in.

All the adjusters will be on the scene today and tomorrow, they have temparary housing, and should have a place to move into within a week.

Her dining room and kichen are compleate. No damage but smoke. Bedrooms are totaly gone. As well as 1 full bath. lower level iswater and smoke damage, furniture and computers water logged.

I am going to work,  and try to get back to normal today. I can't find my travel mug, so I will be stopping for coffee and gas this morning.

Crystal, fingers are crossed for you.

Nancy and Dawn, enjoy your jobs today :)

Steven,  thanks for your concern.

Hugs,
LISA

Good morning LIsa and the rest of Illinois!

Lisa.....I am sorry to hear this news.  We had a house fire when I was a child and lost everything.  Anything we can do, let us know.   I have lots of extra "stuff" that we never seem to have a sale to get rid of that I could donate.

I am back at work and we all know how wonderful THAT is.  I will NOT complain though.

We had a full weekend of AirFest Training and gardening.  Todd baled hay for a friend and found that the jobis harder than he thought.  He will be sore today, I am sure.

Not much else happening for me.

Wishing Crystal good luck on her interviews.  I am sure something will shake loose soon!

Everyone have a wonderful day!

Tell someone that you love them!

Hello everyone

Lisa I am so sorry about your daughter's house.  At least everyone is OK.  My family actually had a house fire too...many years ago...but it was confined to the upstairs.

Well my day seemed to be off to a good start.  It's nice and cool out (no sweating my butt off).  I went to the library and both the movies I wanted were in...so I was very happy.  But then on the way home I started to hear a weird noise coming from my car!!!  I'm not sure what it is.  It might be my back brakes.  But there's no squealing...and it almost sounded like something was dragging under my car!!!  I did run over a small tree branch.  So I thought maybe I knocked something lose.  I got home sure I would find something hanging from under my car...AND nothing!!!  So this worries me...what could this noise be???  I can't take it anywhere because I have no money to get it fixed.  So there is my problem...when it rains it pours.  I am going to take my car to Charles tomorrow and see if he knows what that sound could be.  You know I am just hanging here by a thread and I can't afford an expense like a car repair.  I won't borrow money because...1.  I hate owing people...and...2. I have no idea when I can pay it back or if I can pay it back.  I really envy people who have family they can lean on financially.  I never had that.

At least I have an interview tomorrow and Wednesday.  Then my friend just turned my resume into her boss.  But she said she already interview someone and it sounded like this person had a chance to get hired.  So I might already be out of the running for that job.  Oh man...my life is sucking more every day.  I try to stay positive and not let things get me down.

Oh well on to something positive...I am going to watch my Harry Potter movies....and try to forget my problems.

Have a good day everyone.

Oh Lisa,    and prayers to Annette and her family and you and Hubert.  This is one of the things I fear the most.  I cant imagine losing my home.  It has to be awful.  It is good that all are safe.  Stuff can be replaced, but of course, memories cannot.  I hope she did not lose a lot of precious items.  My thoughts are with you.  If there is any way we can help, please let us know.

Yesterday flew by for me again.  I had some computer time and then Rick and I went out for dinner and did grocery shopping.  I found the Red Lobster gift card. As I was falling asleep Saturday night, I thought, it could have gotten tossed accidently.  Sure enough, I found it!

Crystal, I will let you know how the litter box works.  It can be returned for 90 days so I will return it if I do not like it.  Of all the reviews, only 2 were negative and they were with the older design.  Good luck in your interviews this week!  Positive vibes going out to you!

Chris, now is the time you can enjoy your fruits of your Labor.

Connie, t sounds like you are getting better each day.!

Dawn, hang in there.

Everyone have a great day!

In my personal opinion you are not giving yourself enough calories to sustain itself. Your body more than likely is hoarding calories because it feels that it is being starved. Therefore it is not giving up those last 20#. Try upping your protein and see if that satisfies your hunger. You may have to experiment a little to see how much you need. You have to feed your muscles with enough calories via protein to keep them healthy. The calories that you are consuming is a little low with the 800 with all of the physical activity you are doing. For example when I do a lot of walking as my exercise and/or work in the yard I am more hungry than if I were just being a little bit of a couch potato in the course of the day.

Good Morning,
Well, today started out with a bang. My daughter Annette's house and her neighbors went up in smoke. They think it started outside, prior to 3:00 a.m. The Red Crosss hasn't gotten there yet, but they are waiting for it. They had gotten one cat out, and couldn't find the other one, but they finally found her. Not the way I want to start my week!!

Both are OK, just shook up. I am going to work, then calling my boss and telling her that I may take off early and head up there.

My first instint was to go up there when they called, but common sense told me it wouldn't be a good move on my part.

And how is your world?

Hugs,
LISA

These last 20 pounds are killer.
I feel like I'm NEVER going to loose it.

I had lap band in July of 2010. I weighed almost 280 at my heaviest and now am down to 205. My goal is 185, and these last 20 have been really hard to get rid of.
I've been at 205 for about a year now - fluctuating between 198 and 210.
I have increased my weight training and cardio. I became a Zumba instructor, and now that the weather is nicer I'm getting out to play tennis again and walking the dogs everyday that it's nice. We do live in Illinois, so the weather can change at the drop of a hat. LOL

It does seem like the more cardio I'm doing and the more days I weight train, the hungrier I am. i try to tell my brain that I'm just thirsty, but then I start to dry heave until I put something in my stomach.

My bariatric surgeon closed his practice. There are no more support groups.
My band is filled btween 7-8 cc. I drink plenty of water, stay away from most sugary carbs.
I consume anyhwere from 800-1200 calories a day, which I think is a bit too much - but I'm hungry. I don't think I should be this hungry with 7-8 cc's in my band.

I guess this warrants a trip to my regular doctor first to see if there isn't a medical reason for this weight not coming off - anyone else have any ideas.  Thanks much.

Hi everyone, I have graduated to a cane for most of the day. By evening I still need a walker sometimes depending on how busy I have been. Usually my "busy" is sitting in a chair though. I try to get out every other day to build up my stamina.

We have lots of herbs planted and doing well as well as cherry tomatoes. We have almost no sun so everything has to grow in a pot so it can be moved into the sun. The yard is really beautiful and those of you who are friends on facebook can see pictures of the garden and pictures of the lace I knit.

Hope you all had a lovely day!

Crystal, since you like the Harry Potter series you may like the young adult books by Madeline L'Engle which start with "A Wrinkle in Time". She also writes books for adults and memoirs. We read "The Crosswich series" which is a memoir trilogy and then started reading her youth and adult books in the order they were written and you could see glimpses of her family life in the novels. By the time we had read all her books we felt she was an old friend.

Good Morning,

Well, my no plan day yesterday was quite busy. It started with making breakfast for Hubby, who got home 30 min earlier then I thought he would. Then, a phone call from a dear friend from Shiloh, Il. Of course, that took about 1 hour. Then we went and got my new phone, another hour. we finally made it out for our walk, then to various stores we needed stuff at. We made it home about 2, then decided we needed to go on a picnic with Monica and Scott. I have to admit, I had a great day yesterday!!

Today, I am finishing the laundry, makeing a crock pot roast, and going outside to work on 2 tables i decided to strip and redo.Anyway, that is the "plan".

Chris, your flowers and gardens sound wonderful.

Crystal, forget about the interviews today, and enjoy your movies.

Nancy, I hope you find your gift card. You know it is someplace simple.

I have 2 more weeks to work, then summer vacation starts for me.

Life is Good

Hugs,
LISA

Happy Sunday!

I did get all of the veggies in yesterday. My square foot boxes look really good I must say. I need to get over to Ace and get some bird seed and then it is back home to put the rest of the flowers in. I have about 3/4 of a flat of various boxes.

I will try to post some pics later on of the alpacas and the veggie boxes.

Later.

Hello everyone

Well yesterday was 94 by me...very warm but not unbearable.  When the temp started to get hot I pulled the blinds closed (to keep the sunlight out).  I had the ceiling fans going.  I lounged in my shorts and sports bra...hahaha.  It really wasn't that bad.  I think 150+ lbs ago I would have suffered...

This weekend I have been really enjoying the ABC Family Harry Potter movies.  Another movie will be on tonight.  Then the last two movies of the series I put on hold at the library.  I am still reading the books.  Oh you know if I was working I would have bought the whole series already!!!

I also have been thinking and worrying about my up coming interviews.  I am nervous.  I hope I get a job!!!  Please oh please!!!  So say a special prayer for me at church today.

Christine- your garden sounds wonderful.

Nancy-  I saw that kitty litter box online but was leery about paying so much.  You have to tell me how it works for you.  You know they also have that "train your cat to use the toilet" kit...but my kitty is just too ADHD to use a toilet.

Time to enjoy the day....see you all later.
