I tried to find him to, and heard he had had a "professional breakdown". While he is a brilliant surgeon, I was advised not to try to use him. I was also looking for a weight-loss surgeon I had seen a couple of times back in 2006. He seems to have had a lot of trouble and has moved around a lot to different states. The weight-loss office is still there, but I was told the Doctor would have the records. I was out of luck. Then one day, his transcriptionist send me a couple of pages, but it was enough to help. She advised me to contact the medical records office at the hospital where he operated. They were able to send me quite a few records including some that involved him. I just asked for everything from 2004 (when I had my RNY-but not at that hospital) to 2007 because I wasn't exactly sure of the year I saw him.
I also got an email from someone at www.obesityhelp.com that had this advise:

I work in a PCP office in this type of position. This doctor I understand has \"disappeared\" but he is somewhere and so is all of his information unless he doesn't\'t mind going to prison when he reappears. If he is somehow affiliated with a hospital contact the hospital medical records department and ask them for who is handling his patients records retrieval since he is no longer practicing. If not contact the medical board in your state advise them your Dr has come up missing with your records and they should have information also. If there is something specific you need for your new PCP at least start getting records from your specialists because those will contain a little bit of the information.
