Topic: RE: I didn't get my fill today!!
It's kind of good to hear that most of the doctors are following the same play book in that if you are losing weight steadily they don't give a fill.  And it also seems like we are all the same in that when we work hard to lose the weight we want a fill as a reward.  I sure did.  But just the same, I did not get one.   I am wishing all of us the strength to overcome the temptation to overeat and to survive until our next fill.  Whenever we get it. I am a former weigh****cher so I also use the weigh****cher scale and spoons which help with portion control.  Using the scale and spoons helps keep me honest with myself. Z
Topic: RE: Keeping Track 2-17-2008 ( NASCAR DAY!!)
Glad you guys are still posting.  I am working up to it.  Got a fill on Thursday.  Was partially on liquids Thurs, Fri and Sat.  morning.  I believe I will quit crying about not being restricted.  Saturday night I was able to tolerate soup.  Today I wa able to eat 1/2 egg and 1oz of sausage for breakfast, later I had a whey protein drink (snack), Went to Applebees for lunch and was only able to eat 1/2 of the 1/2 rack of ribs, brought the remainder home for dinner to eat along with 6 ****tail shrimp no ****tail sauce.  I just ate a protein bar for snack.  I did morning exercise routine with weights and  got on the teadmill.  This girl is tired and will be making it an early night.   Thanks again for the encouraging posts. In regards to eating, On some days I spead it out, depending on how my day starts and others I just eat the 3 meals.  Unfortunately I have been eating what I want and can swallow but limiting my caloric intake.  This may not work well with the band.  When I read your 1/2 to 1 cup volume per day I see my problem.  I am restricted but not so I am unable to eat only 1 cup of anything.  For example, We went out to breakfast at Cracker barrel.  I ate 3 eggs, 1/2 slice of wheat toast, 2 slices of tomatoe, 2 sausage patties.  I ate it slow.  I did not drink anything.  I ate a soy joy bar for snack and I ate 3 chicken wings for dinner (my sister in law had us over).   Later, I drank a whey protein drink,  and a southbeach diet protein water, exercised on the treadmill, and had a Schwan Sherbet mini.  This totaled  1104 calories consisting of 71 proteins, 56 carbs and 64 fats.  I was really hoping to have this off by November.  I will change my whole eating plan this week and see what happens.  Maybe I need another fill.

How many calories do you guys eat per day.  It does not seem like much.  I hate to log in what I ate today even though it was under 1,000 calories.  I wonder what others ate.  Maybe I am eating too much?
Topic: RE: Keeping track - 2/8/08
Are we all supposed to let each other know the daily foods eaten?  I have been keeping track on the www.fitday.com .
Topic: RE: QUESTION ABOUT THE POST OP DIET---->

At Jackson Purchase Hospital, Mayfield, Kentucky  where I had my surgery the diet after surgery was liquid, i.e. Jello, protein drink, chicken soup (not chicken noodle), water, tea.   We had a schedule for when to initiate additional foods in our diet.  You might need to check with your doctor to see what type of plan they have for you. Topic: RE: The last straw...
My last straw was when one of my click (a group of  6 women that have been friends for over 30 years) died.  She was the heaviest of us all.  I was the next heav iest.  She was only 58 years old.  I know her weight was a contributing factor, and now I am the biggest.  Also, my husband has diabetes and hypertension and has had two strokes in the past five years.  He is not obese but is overweight.  I have a family history of diabets and hypertension but have escaped it so far.  I realized that I could be next but it would not be due to being overweight and bringing poor health conditions on myself.  Now I am happier with a slimmer future in view.  I will not be the heaviest one and I will do all that I can to maintain good health.   Z
Topic: RE: lapbanders unite...
I am in for tossing the scales as I was becoming addicted to it.  When I went in for a fill last week the nurse told me I was doing well and that the scale would catch up.  I eat under 1000 calories about 3 days a week and I exercise at least 30 minutes daily.  My weight is moving slowly but I can see the inches shrinking.  People are telling me that they see the changes though I don't see it as much as others.  I plan to continue working on myself.  I have not come this far to let the scale slow me down.  You bandsters have kept me going with your encouragement and I hope I can do the same for you.  Take care and keep up the good work. Z
Topic: RE: Hello, I'm new here...

TL, The doctor I went to is in Mayfield, KY and you can check with that office and they will give you the information on what it cost for self pay.  I have insurance but I know some self-pay patients and they thought it was a good deal.  I don't know where you live to justify it being cost effective but look up Bariatrics and Jackson Purchase Medical Center or contact Petra Crutchfield at 270-251-4LAP.  I hope this is helpful. Z

Topic: RE: OT:Everyone OK?
Thanks for checking on us.  In Providence we only had the winds no damage.  If I hear anything about our Tri-State bandsters I will put it out there.  Until then we will keep them in our thoughts as well as others that may have had it bad. Z

Topic: RE: Protein shakes?
I use the Wal-Mart protein drink also.  I have only bought one container from GNC, it was on sale.  They seem to do the trick as regards providing the protein of 20gm and 100 calories.  The price was good at around 14.00 and I got the vanilla and chocolate.  At the GNC store I picked up mixed berry.  There are a lot of them out there with no carbs but they are expensive.  I also drink the Special K water which is 30 calories and 5gm of protein.  I add skim milk or water to my shakes but I really don't  make a shake of them.  I mix it up with 8 oz of water put it in the freezer while I do 20 minutes on the treadmill then drink it.  For me it's just a source of protein not a meal.
Topic: RE: 1 week till surgery........please help!!!!!

Jill, You will be fine.  My doctor had me on a high protein diet the week before surgery.  I don't know about your doctor but there are a lot of people who have your doctor and they will probably drop you a line or two.  I did not eat anything I only had liquids the day before surgery.  Of course I had already stopped drinking soda and beer.  I don't smoke so I didn't have to quit.  My husband drove me home from the hospital as I did not stay overnight.  I would have all my liquid foods at home like your chicken broth, liquid vitamins, gas-x strips, milk of magnesia, tums and benedryl strips.  I also had jello and my protein mixes.  I also keep a case of regular and flavored water on hand. Best wishes, Z,  Providence, KY

Topic: RE: Question about Xenical and Dry Mouth?
I took Zenical about two years ago for a little while but I drank a lot of water so I did not ever experience dry mouth.  I would like to ask if I can, why you started taking it now.  Is is helping and I would think that you would have trouble swallowing the capsule?
Topic: RE: Im starting the COUNT DOWN!!

Topic: RE: Jill from Florence
You will really glad you joined OH, especially if you are not able to get support group meetings.  I am enjoying the information I receive from others here.  I am relatively new and have only had three fills.   I have a long way to goal but am looking foward to the encourage received from Kentucky. The best advise I can give is follow the instructions, don't drink when you eat, exercise, and chew chew, chew.  Take care and keep in touch.  I wish you the best.   Z, Providence, KY
