What % of your excess weight have you lost?

They say with Lap-Band that you can only expect to lose something like 60% of your EXCESS weight. I know everyone is different. And I know they put this number out there to cover their own butts. But I just thought I'd take a poll.

Well, 4 1/2 months out and I've lost 77 (17 pre-op) pounds. However, I know part of that is just because I started out at a much higher weight than most.  But I'm very pleased.  My goal is to get to Twoterville by November 1 and 100 lost by January 1.  If I can do that, counting the 2 weeks pre-op, that would be 100 pounds in 8 months.  Certainly more than I could have done on my own.

My main goal is to get under 200 pounds.  Once I've achieved that, I'll determine my final weight.

But in answer to your question, with a lot of hard work, I think losing 85-100% of our excess weight is reasonable and doable.  Just like with any WLS, we get out of it what we put into it.  I fully expect to reach all of my weightloss goals.

I lost about 60 percent of my excess weight before I got very ill last year. I have a new band and repaired Hiatal Hernia as of last week and am hoping to get more off. I was actually at 69 percent until I had Pnuemonia and caused me to have a complete unfill. I gained a little back/.

How are you feeling this week?  I'm so glad you got your hernia and band repaired.  I'm sorry you had pneumonia.  I had a severe case of what they thought to be pneumonia but it was vasculitis attacking my lungs. It wasn't fun and I'm sure you were on prednisone.  It's good you only gained back what you did.  Pneumonia can have you down for months.

I've been on prednisone and chemo for over 7.5 years.  Gained over 160 pounds due to pred. Highest wt. 410. Surgery wt. 365. Current wt. 299

I am doing better this week. I think I am a little more sore this time around though. I was diagnosed with Legionella and Mycoplasm Pnuemonia and I guess all of the coughing and vomitting caused my Hiatal Hernia to get much worse and then make my band wiggle where it should not have been.  I was antibiotics and steroids for almost 6 months. It was rough. Do not want to do that again.

wow, it sounds like you really went through a lot. It sounds like you stayed strong, though. At least it is over! Good luck and good health!
