Lap Band removal

Hi all,

Currently needing some help...I remember reading about a forum for "Failed Lap Bands" - does anyone know how I can become a member of that group?

I am needing revision surgery and options are replace LB or go with Sleeve. Would love to hear what others in a similar situation are doing...

Band is empty, severe nausea, dry heaves and GI shows stomach up into pouch and barium sitting in esoph for a long time...

Thanks,

Kelly-girl

Thanks Nic,

Says that I am not authorized to see the information. So I have clicked on "join this group" and shall await activation into the group.

Are you in a similar band situation?

You're approved, Kelly. It's not a very socially active group, but there is a wealth of experience and knowledge there.  Please share your story there.  Thanks!

Empty 11cc band. Fill 8/10/10 3cc Fill 3/1/11 .5cc total unfill 6/12/12 slightly dilated esophagus, 7/17/12 UGI shows improved motility, no dilation. GES 2/21/13 normal, except for food backing up into esophagus,  manometry 4/9/13 severe achalasia, motility 0% consult with Dr Pellegrini 5/30 to determine surgical plan

I would like to be approved also.  I had my band removed april 1 2012.  wondering what to do next.  Sleeve gastronomy or replace the band?  I'm putting the weight back on and hate it.

Kris my band is coming out 9/4 and than I will be fighting to get a sleeve.  The surgeon wanted to put me on MORE anti acid and move the port.  Why would I want to go thru another surgery and take even more meds that aren't working.

I am in that group and the story is there.  So, much info there for you too.

Check out the Revision board too.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won!  Sleeved 1/22/13!

I am considering having lapband surgery.  I too would like to be approved for this group.  Thank you.

I see Steph approved you. Sorry I had to run out or I would have added you immediately!

I had my band removed about 7 years ago... emergency surgery. Nothing but complications and misery.

There are lots of us with similar experiences over on the failed band group. You'll find information there as well as support. We're glad to have you, but sorry for the cir****tances.

Nic
I also have the Lap band and going in for a revision. My issue is that my port is sitting on something like a nerve and when I eat, a pain shoots up my back and shoulder. I am nearly done with my required appointments. Hope to have my surgery before Christmas. I also have gained back 70 lbs which i'm not happy about.
Sorry to hear you're also having the Vagus nerve issues, Phrazzledmom. SO many of us have experienced this!  Those nerves run from the base of the brain down into the stomach (and through the diaphragm) and if anything irritates them, you get that pain. It's common with gastric banding... but not many people know of it going INTO surgery. I know I didn't.

I wish you the best of luck with your revision.

(My hubby is from Eau Claire and hung out in Chippewa Falls a lot. Beautiful area!)

Kelly how long have u been having complicatioins?

Definately do not get another band! While I'm very pro band, according to my surgeon there's no reason to think that another band is the right thing to do unless it's your only option.  What's the definition of insanity?  Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.  If the sleeve is an option I would personally do that once you are completely healed.

Best wishes~

I completely agree with Lisa. In no way should you consider another band if the one you have is not doing you right. Carefully evaluate all your posibillities and take it from there. Good luck to you.
