Banded in 2009 and in need of some advice

I was banded in 2009.  I have struggled and not lost much weight at all.  I have been going to the same doctor until my insurance changed this past month.  I went to a new doctor and he told me I had 4cc in my band while the other doctor told me I had 9.75 at last visit.  This doctor did the fill with X-ray and showed me the fluid.  Should I give this band another try or just revise to a sleeve?

Give it another try! If the band is not causing problems and you now have a better fill level, it seems to me that you need to see if you can make it work before you get another major surgery. My advice would be get right back to mindful band-style eating - protein first, then vveggies,  then carbs. Keep snacks planned and low cal, avoid liquid calories.

See how it goes!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Give it a try!! Back to basics, and see if it will work now that your fill is adjusted properly.

Good luck!! :)

I hate the band as much as anybody but if it ain't broke don't fix it. Try again now that you know what the fill level is and give it another go. Stick to all the rules and give it a shot.

When I first got the band I thought I made a mistake because I didn't feel much restriction at first. I told this to my doctor and he said to give it time and more fills. He was right. I did get to a good fill restriction and slowly lost weight. 70 lbs in all. This is as low as my body will go. I eat carefully, low carb and track my eating. Even if you went to the sleeve you still have to diet and excersize.

VSG on 03/25/16

You should give it a try, you already have it and if it doesn't work for you then you can revise.

Lapband - Jan 2009 weight goal reached with lapband. Revised to VSG- 1/25/16
