If your surgeon partially unfilled you and you told him you were having chest pains, he should have immediately ordered an Upper GI to check your pouch.

I hate to say it, but sounds like you have pouch dilation ...also known as mild band slippage when the pouch extends over the band and if it gets too big it will eventually prolapse, to save your band you will need a TOTAL UNFILL,  NOT PARTIAL, IF its not already too late,  I hope you can get in to see your surgeon ASAP before it becomes an emergency, I've had my band long enough to know all symptoms and a throbbing pouch is one of the symptoms of  pouch dilation.

Sinus drainage with the band is a clear giveaway the band has passed the stage of being too tight from reflux and permanent damage is setting in (many people get this confused with a cold)....a lot of people here are not experienced enough to answer your questions.

Good luck

Topic: RE: Possibly losing my band..complete unfill today
Thanks everyone for your advice and kind words. I'm not planning on rushing into anything, I just hate to have to start this all over again. I was reveiwing my insurance policy and coverage today and the criteria is the same as it was before, bmi of at least 40, pysch eval, nutrition visit, doctor supervised weight loss attempts, etc. My bmi is currently 39.5, so I think I may have a good chance of getting approved. If not, I think I will keep the band unfiled for now and see how I do on my own. I don't really want to have it taken out and go through another surgery for nothing. I will keep everyone posted.

Thank you all again!

I can understand the worry and no it doesn't sound crazy at all .........at this point I think they need to do something to get to the bottom of it......you need to have relief from the symptoms and more important get peace of mind.

I am going to keep positive thoughts and prayers coming your way......there are so many things that it could be and I am hoping for something minor....

Keep us posted....hopefully they will do it soon, the worry and stress alone could make the symptoms worse...

I have those for my back so I suppose I could use them on my tummy too. Or else get cozy with the heating pad tonight.

I wish my doc would call me back already!

Well I called the doctor so waiting to hear back.  I tend not to wait...maybe a week maybe 2 so if something is wrong then I'm on top of it!

You experience sounds like it was seriois :(  that's what I am hoping to avoid being proactive about my symptoms.

Thanks for sharing your info.

The hiccups usually do that for me too...a signal to stop eating or wait a minute - but they are happening not eating or drinking anything so I'm thinking its the muscus filling things up that is causing the hiccup signal.

I do have unjury chicken soup mix.  However, I am not having a problem eating at all - but perhaps I'm feeling discomfort in the chest area due to the inflammation of the nasal drip.  I feel like my band is wide open

No GB - thank god!!!

thanks for your 2 cents

I also mashed other fish because I can't stand tuna! And I ground up ham for ham salad too. That way I had some variety. Tomato soup is good too. If it can be mashed and low carb/fat,try it!

Dev - I can't get it up! I think you may be onto something with the sudafed to dry things up.  I am definitely going to start that when I get home today.

I have the nasal thing from neil-med as well so it wouldnt hurt to do that either.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Thank you everyone for all of your feedback, advice and suggestions. I appreciate them all. Sue, I will try to increase my intake a little bit. It's so hard to train myself mentally to eat MORE, when for a long while I've mentally been trained not to eat. Clearly I did more harm to my metabolism then anything else!
I will increase my exercise (b/c I know I can do better in this are for sure!).
We can do this!!! I promised myself i would make it happen!
Thanks again everyone!

I would suggest broth, protein broth if you have it because that wouldn't create excess mucus. When I get hiccups, it's usually a signal that I swallowed too much of something.
Do you still have your gall bladder? That can cause chest discomfort too. Just my 2 cents.
Hope you feel better and get an answer soon.

If you think it is bad sinus drip, try Mucinex and drink lots of water. Mucinex now comes in a liquid. Take the plain one that is for mucus and not congestion. That is what my doctor has me take when my allergy medicine isn't enough. Especially for seasonal issues. It also won't hurt your blood pressure if you take the plain one. It is supposed to thin the mucus out.

Talk to your pharmacist to make sure you take the right one.

Hope you feel better soon!

I didn't lose 20 lbs in 6 weeks, you are doing great. The average is 1-2 lbs a week, and you will probably hit some plateau's. (I did, anyway) Just keep following your Dr's rules, continued good luck!

I would say yes, yes, and yes. Post-nasal drop can cause inflammation, plus it can be thick. Try an experiment (it's kind of gross), but spit a big gop of the drainage into a colander with holes in it and see just how long it takes to go through.
Have you tried sudafed? Or using a neti pot?
