    Topic: RE: I'm Home!
So happy to hear that your surgery is done and  that you are now at home.  Excited that you are now on the losers bench.  Can't wait for it to be my turn.  :  )

Thanks so much for the updates, they are so very helpful to know what others have gone through and experienced.

Topic: RE: Had my Barium Swallow this morning......
So it wasn't so bad after all.  They make you wait longer than the test actually takes.  For those of you who haven't had this done yet it's actually very simple.  They make you change into those very sexy hospital gowns then ask you to swallow these granules that have a bit of a sore taste.  The best part is the tablespoon of water you get to have with them, like that is going to wa**** down.  They make you feel like you need to burp but you aren't suppose to.  Of course they make it sound so easy.  The doctor then came in and explained a bit of what he was going to do then they had me stand on this table that moves.  Now for the worst part, while standing they make you drink 2/3 of the most chalky tasting stuff, it wasn't too bad but was so thick.  While you are drinking they take the photos and ask you to move around.  The table then lays you flat and while laying down you are suppose to finish the rest of your yummy drink with a straw.  Not so easy.  Now for the part that makes you feel so silly, they make you roll around on the table.  I totally think the doctor and techs are just laughing in their heads about you because I'm sure I looked so stupid.  Maybe after surgery it will be easier but a fat person rolling on this little table, yeah right.

One more step down and now only two weeks till my appointment with Laura then hopefully a date.

Carbs is doing to be the hardest thing for me to deal with after surgery.  I love my carbs, especially my mom's perogies.

I'm going to miss them but have to think this will be the best decision ever for me and I can sacrafice them for looking and feeling better.

    Topic: RE: Barium Swallow
Thanks ladies.......Tuckergirl you made me laugh about rolling like a log.  I'm going to go into this now laughing in my head.....and thinking how stupid I'm going to look.

    You ladies are the best.
    Topic: RE: Barium Swallow
I have my barium swallow on Friday.  Does anyone know how long it takes?  What exactly I need to do?  Not looking forward to this.  Trying to figure out my day to let work know.
    Topic: RE: I'm really here!!!!
Hope your surgery went well.  Please keep us posted when you feel up to it.

Thinking about you and excited that someone else is finally on the losers bench.
Topic: RE: OH Marathon Team and Boot Camp
    I can't believe what a great response.

Sherry that would be totally awesome if you could talk to the clinic at your next appointment.  I won't be in the office until my NUT appointment on the 22nd.  Think this would a very inspirational to others.  We can either get a relay team together, so we will need five people and each of us would run between 3.5 to 5 miles and for those who want we can then continue on to the half.  We would have to definately start training after Christmas for this, would work well for me since I hope to get my surgery end of October or November.  Fingers crossed.

For those who are interested in a bootcamp.  I have talked to Lisa who runs Miss Fit Personal Training (http://www.missfitpts.ca/).  She used to work at my gym until she went out on her own.  Currently she does a boot camp for breast cancer survivors and I have talked to her briefly about one for us bariatric surgery patients.  She is totally interested in pursuing if we get enough people interested in something like this.  It doesn't matter what exercise level you are at or if you have had surgery or are still waiting.  We are there to support eachother through this journey and not judge.   It will be tailors to suit all of us at the sessions. She is away until next week and we will be touching base then.  I will keep you all posted.

If you are interested and don't mind me sharing your email with Lisa, please send me a personal message.
Topic: RE: OH Marathon Team and Boot Camp
    Hey Ladies,

I was at the gym after work and while I was running, still doing 2 minutes running, 2 minutes walking but next week maybe 3 and 1's it got me thinking again about the marathon.  Hopefully I will have my surgery before Christmas.  Andrea told me possibly end of October or November when I inquired since i'm trying to get work figured out.  That works out great for me for timing.  Am looking for anyone up to the challenge of doing next year's MB Marathon Half......maybe the full.  There are a few 10K's before the marathon that we could do as practice.  Anyone interested???

This afternoon I also bumped into one of the trainers who used to work at my gym, who started her own training business and she mentioned all the things she is doing...one thing that caught my attiention was she does a boot camp for breast cancer survivors.  A light went on in my head, thinking about a possible OH boot camp.  Doesn't matter if you have exercised before or not, it's for everyone.  Maybe if anyone is interested I could talk to Lisa about possibly doing one for us.

It was great to meet all your amazing women and finally getting to put a face to the names.
Thanks Sista for hosting, what a wonderful way to spend a warm summer evening.
Look forward to meeting you all again in September.

    Topic: RE: Running!
I can't wait till after post op.  Working out will be so much easier and I hope to get my pilates certification so I can teach.  Maybe even teach step classes at my gym down the road.

I don't have a surgery date yet.  Did my consultantion with Dr. Andew on July 20, had my post-op appointment with my family doctor,  did my pysche evaluation.  Next steps are my barium swallow on Sept 9th then my appointment with Laura on Sept 22nd.  Getting closer and very anxious.
    Topic: RE: Meet n greet

I will be there after work (about 530ish).  Not sure what to bring since some have had surgery and some of us are waiting.

Look forward to meeting you all.

    Topic: RE: Running!
I am totally in if you start a running group.  Have started running a little bit at the gym with my trainer who said I needed to bump up my cardio if I wanted to see the weight come off..........she doesn't know I am waiting for surgery as she thinks exercise and a proper diet is all I need.  She is wrong about that.  I workout four times a week and watch what I eat (for the most part) but have struggled my whole life and didn't come off anymore.

Yesterday I did 2 and 2's for 30 minutes (run for 2 min, walk for 2 min).  YAY  Hope to get up to 5 and 1's before surgery.

Topic: RE: Fullohope Good Luck tomorrow.....

    Topic: RE: A little down
Am a little down in the dumps that I have had my physche evaluation and passed no problem and have my physical next week with my family doctor but now have to wait till Sept 22 to see Laura for my nutirtional consult.  Just want to move on with my life after my engagement broke off in April and have a fresh start on life since this is somehting I have been waiting for so long to happen and now that I am one step closer it feels like it's so far away.
    Topic: RE: Surgery dates?
Had consultation with Dr. Andrew on July 20th.  Did my phyche evalulation and now just waiting for my nutrition consult which is not till Sept 22.  I will be having the VSG.
