Hi, my name is Ronda. I am also a "lurker". I am 45 years old. I have 3 children ages 25,21,and 17, as well as a wonderful husband of 22 years. I had the new WLS procedure called Gastric Plication on October 17th. So far I have lost around 70lbs. and am very happy with the whole process. I have found that on the main board that it has been best not to mention the type of surgery I have had  I am looking for support from other WLS patients, it does not matter what type of procedure you have had to me! We are all in the same boat headed towards the same destination of good health  I love coming to this site (I am on here several times a day every day now that the company I work for closed and I am currently unemployed) Thank you to everyone who shares there journey! It means alot to all of us!

Mary,

when i worked in a roll forming/stamping plant I was an inprocess auditor, but i liked making the parts themselves.  it was always cool to see the process from start to finish.  but it was killer on the back for sure!  just take it easy woman!  and we will see you when you can.

Hi Susie!

I didnt think of the distance i would have to travel for my support group.  There arent many open groups, not sure why.  What you can do is come for a walk with me and my OH friends though.  I can PM you and we can set up a day of the week or weekend and walk one of the malls.  We usually rotate the metro area.  We can talk out any issues we are having or just shop, cough cough or walk i mean!

Hi Bee
sorry I missed this yesterday. but I started a new job through a temp agency. it is in a small machine shop and afternoons. I have not done factory work since 2008 and it is kicking my ass. but glad I am not trying to do with 13o + more lbs on this old lady body.
Good thing is I have lost about 6 lbs since it startes last week wed.

I wil try to get on here earlier as I get back into the swing of things.

You got me! Yes I was a "lurker" here on the lightweights board! lol
My name is Susan, you can call me Susie. I am a 45 year old, married and we have 5 adult sons and 3 beautiful grandbabies.

I had RNY done on 4/25/2012 and my surgery was done at DMC Harper.

I don't feel that I get any support from my surgeons office although I am only 4 weeks post op. Does anyone know of any WLS support groups that I would be able to attend although I had my surgery at DMC?

Thank you,

Susie Williams

Hi Hollie,
I have seen her before and she was nice.  Did she support you having the surgery and has she been supportive after?  I may switch to her.  Right now I see Dr. Mehta and he has not been very supportive of me trying to get plastics done.

Might as well add my two cents--pre surgery--just completed my 6 months pre-approval diet and had my psych eleval last week, waiting for my PCP to send my records to the surgeon ( he decided to go on vacation the day after my last appointment--hope his office staff follows through !!) I live in Saginaw but will have my surgery at Hurley in Flint ( we have a center here but for some reason my PCP will only refer to Hurley). I'm probably one of the oldest people you will meet waiting for approval to have the surgery--67 next month ! Married 45 years, 2 kids, 2 grandsons and I just want to live what ever is left of my life healthy. Hope to make some friends here on the Michigan board !!

Good Morning Everyone,

Beautiful start to the week in the Detroit area today.  Its sunny here. How is it where you are?  I am having OJ and fruit2o this morning.  I know, I need to get some protein in somewhere.  I am thinking some egg drop soup.  Which is odd for breakfast, but I have a craving for it.

What are you having this morning?  or had...

wow susan that stinks! who wouldve known you were allergic to stitches!  I have heard obstructions and gall bladder problems are not uncommon for us rny'rs.  I hope your road to recovery is speedy.  did you go back to barix for your surgeries to fix the complications?

hi, I had RNY 10/2008.  I lost about 100 lbs but never got down to my goal weight.     I have been having stomach pain since end of Feb.   My PCP thought that i had gallbladder issues but it was a small bowel obstruction.   i had surgery for that on 5/1 then surgery last wed for complications - i was allergic to the suture that he used.   Now I can finally eat and now I need to get better eating habits again so I can get my health back.

I am thru UofM and I am pretty sure I am getting RNY.  The UofM only has 3 meetings per month and I can't make any of them this month.  The first one is while I am at work, the second one I have my card club and a wedding, and the third one my daugher has her dance recital.  So I am feeling left out this month.  Next month should be better...I hope.  Thanks for the welcom.

Hi Jacque!  There are a bunch of us that live in Ypsi and AA so support should be easy to find.  Are you going thru Barix or UofM?  I didnt see what surgery you decided on? My hubby is also MO, but I cannot convince him to get the surgery. Thats a decision that can only be made when one is truly ready. Congrats on your 12 lb loss so far. And welcome out of Lurkedom! We will try to help you with the surprises too.

Hi,
My name is Jacque and I live in Ypsilanti, MI
I am 46 years old
I have 4 kids ages 21, 17, 7, & 4
My hubby is mobidly obese also
I am having surgery in July (no date yet)
My current weight is 245 and I am 5'5" BMI=40.8
I have lost 12 pounds during my 6 month weight loss appointments
I am ready!! I gave up soda in October and I drink a protien shake every morning. I can't believe how hungry I am when I miss my protien shake. Which proves to me protien will help me feel full.
I am a lurker, but mostly because I am trying to gather as much info as I can before surgery so there are no surprises.

My name is Bee.  I am almost 43 yrs old.  I had Rny in 2007 after about 1.5 yrs of research.  I got 3 different consultations.  I was terrified to undergo surgery as I had young children but decided to go through with it.  I have type I diabetes and hbp that didnt go away after my surgery.  I lost 130lbs post op.  I had plastic surgery in 2008.  I have regained about 20 lbs. but am still very satisfied with my results.

I have met approx 25 people from the MI OH board during the course of the years.  All of them were very nice and some of them became close friends of mine.  I thank goodness I was able to meet such great people from the Internet because I was nervous about that LOL.

Please post your introduction!  I would love to get to know you!

Hi Bee
Thanks for the confidence. This bord was so active once I hope it can be that way again.
My name is Mary . I live in Garden City MI.
I have two adult Children.
and one Dear Hubby
I had Rny surgery at Henry Ford Hospital
on 10/29/2009. I started at 350 lbs and lost 137 with the surgery. I am still working on my goal. And as the time passes I learn many new things about the journy daily.

Hope you will all feel confident enough to join in on any post.

I know there are a lot of people who lurk about the boards.  I just want to let you know that we are here to offer our best advice through experience and knowledge obtained from our support groups and doctors.  We have been through the 6 month diet periods, the pre op approvals, the jitters just before surgery, the week after surgery and the newbie stage.  and so on.

I am an 'old timer' as they say.  I have been through plastic surgery and am out about 5 yrs  I am in the maintenance stage and have lots of questions and pitfalls.  I turn to people around here for advice.

I say ask away.  I am watching the boards constantly and so is my good friend Mary.  If we cant answer your post, we can help you cross post it to the main board or help you look up an older post that may help you out.

Hopefully, more people will post and we can get the board active again.

BM
