Weight Loss Surgery Directory

    Just wanted to say Hello!

Hi everyone.  Once again, it's been a long time since my last post.  I haven't been making a lot of progress but I'm maintaing a loss of approximately 75 pounds.  At one time I had hopes of being part of the 100's club.  That seems less likely as time rolls by.  Still, I am very happy to be maintaining!  Best wishes to everyone!

Great Job Abby! You will get there - slow and steady! I didn't get to goal until I was 15 months post op, and i was reading all over the boards that RNY patients got to goal in 6, 8 months - I wondered what was wrong with me. And you are MAINTAINING - which is the biggest battle of all!

I'm not sure what the stats are for lap band.  Seems to me that I read somewhere that this WLS usually results in a loss of about 60-80% of the weight you need to lose will come off.  I'm at 75% so I am happy with that... yet still hoping to lose a little more.   I would love to reach goal.  Yet I do realize that where I am is alot better/healthier than where I was!
    Hi Abby!!!!
Congratulations abby. You are doing great so far. And nice to see you.
I have missed you folks and I will try harder to post and check on you all :-)

    Hi Abby
Good to hear from you. I haven't even looked in on this site for months. You have done a lot better than I have. I lost 85 pounds then when the first band failed. After it was unfilled & the year after replacement surgery, getting fills etc,  I gained close to 50 pounds. I maintained that last 35 pounds for the last several months. I finally lost a few pounds in May, Since June my back has stopped me from exercising and I was not loosing. I just had a 2cc fill last week and I finally seem to have good restriction. I have lost 3-4 pounds since then. I am hoping to get the weight loss or re-loss, going again. I was really ready to give up, but .....hope prings eternal!

Hi Kitty!  What do you mean "the first band failed"? I wonder quite often what my band is doing :-(  I seem to have good restriction by times and then sometimes I can eat almost anything.   I don't blame you for being discouraged.  You are amazing to hang in there.  Many - myself included- would have quit long ago.  The thing is the battle never ends, even when the weight comes off we still have to maintain.  So good to hear from you!

My first band was replaced because it moved,  I was either not filled enough or I was unable to eat or drink, so even though it looked OK under the scope, he decided it had moved. He was right because I had a new hernia. Anyway, I had a second surgery 14 months ago. In the last year I had fills as often as possible- which means every 2 to 3 months and had no restriction until last week. I hope this restriction lasts. I think I have 14.5 cc in my 10 cc band!
I have new motivation- I booked a cruise for September & I have an awesome evening gown (a la Value Village) that I can put on but can't zip.....I want to wear it for the captain's dinner!

Oh WOW!  That is great inspiration!  I hope it works out for you.  Keep me posted and take care!

I don't know if the dress will work  but one has to keep trying!
