    Topic: RE: Dumb Question!!!!!
Thank you so much for your input ladies.  They say they have a "band friendly" program, but I'm just not seeing it.

    Have a great day.

Hi all - Has anyone here who has had lap-band surgery, ever went to Herbal Magic???  I know, I know, you are all asking "WHY WOULD YOU?"  LOL  But there is a method in my madness.

Topic: RE: How often do you get fills?
Hi Krista Dr. B schedules you for every three months. It is decided then if you need a fill or not. I think three months might be a bit long. It certainly was between the first fill and the one I just got last Friday. Shelley who posts here sometimes feels the same way. We both got a fill Friday. I'm happy with mine so far. Wishing you well - Carolyn PS You'll have to tell me how to get my pic on here.

Hi Beth Your on your way!!!! Keep positive and lots of luck. Hugs back at ya - Carolyn
    Topic: RE: Fill
Hi Shelley I haven't been doing a damn thing either. I have no restriction whatsoever!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been going up and down the same three lbs. since my fill. This is the same as dieting on my own. At first I did fantastic = then nothing. I'm hanging in there though just like you. Did the office tell you there will be a change with the fills. They will be more often. Lise went down to the States to learn about their filling procedures. Something isn't quite right about the way things are now. I know the band is just a tool, but I expected more support from it. Good thoughts - Carolyn PS Let me know how you make out.
    Topic: RE: Fill
Hi all - is anyone going for a fill on Dec. 21. Good thoughts to all - Carolyn
    Topic: RE: HELP!!!!!!
Hi Lori Wow your medical condition should give you a bit of priority!! Here is the number for Dr. Beausolei at George Dumont Hospital in Moncton. 506-869-2090. Ask for Lise Mallet or Joceline Brun. Lise is great to talk to. I'd phone, but her email is lisema@health.nb.ca. He does lap band as well as bypass. Good luck to you - Carolyn

Topic: RE: Email for Dr B's Office
Hi Krista Once you meet these ladies, you will find that it is no bother to call them. They are very understanding ladies and very willing to communicate with you. I found it best to talk directly to them. They have dealt with hundreds of patients and understand fully how you are feeling. Make that call Monday!! Hugs - Carolyn
    Topic: RE: Lap Band
Hi all - it's been a while. Things have been going well since my banding on July 7th. You know how hard and frustrating it can be dieting? Well it is just as hard and frustrating with the band. I have to watch myself every day. It is only a tool, and with all tools you have to do the work. As I said it is going well for me but it has been no differant for me as far as dieting goes. It is very much like before the band. I think the mental part should come first. I certainly don't regret it, and I don't want to discourage anyone but it certainly didn't make anything easier. Hugs to all who need one - Carolyn
Topic: RE: Glad you are all here!!!
Hi Shelley Receipe idea sounds great. On Thursday I had laser eye surgery so I'm supposed to take it easy for a few days but I'll get on it in a couple of days. I've worn glasses since I was 9 (wow 48 yrs) and I'm so excited to have gotten rid of them. Life is good!! Hugs - Carolyn
Topic: RE: Glad you are all here!!!
Hi there Shelley - nice to hear from you. I'm doing really well, but like you, I don't feel any restriction either. I have 5.5 fill and other then once getting something stuck, I don't feel any restrictions either. When he did my fill he gone me to drink a cup of water before I left and asked me if I felt anything. I told him no, and he said good!! That was that. I weigh and measure my food and I'm not sure if I'm eating too much or not??? I am still losing well though 63lbs. I bought my favorite pair of jeans at Penningtons (where else) and went from a 28 to a 22 and now the 22 is getting rather slack. I'm having trouble getting all the water I need. I promise myself I'll start every Monday! Sound familiar - every Monday I was always going to start a diet. That usually lasted until Monday evening. But I keep trying. I started taking aquasize classes twice a week which is a big help. With my bad knee I just can't walk. No it's not an excuse!! lol It all takes time my friend. I guess I just didn't think it was going to be so much of "dieting". Know what I mean? Hugs - Carolyn PS Sarah is doing ok but I haven't heard from Roger.
Topic: RE: looking for more info
Hi Vicki When I had my lap-band done there was a man in our group who paid privately. He paid $10,000. and I paid $4500. He was quicker because he didn't have to wait for approval etc. I can claim the $4500. on my income tax (4500. pays for the device and medicare covers the surgery). Have a great day - Carolyn

Good for you Jay!! The road is long, but you'll get there. Enjoy the zoo! Hugs - Carolyn
    Topic: RE: Completely discouraged
Hi Jay - Your only "completely defeated" when your dead. I'm taking a wild guess here and betting your still alive since you typed your message. Sounds like your a wee bit sorry for yourself right now - been there, done that and got over it. Medicare also takes in to fact joint pain, breathing problems etc. Go to your family Dr. and get him to refer you to someone else. Also the diatician you've been going to counts as a dieting program. Darn that secretary/nurse or whatever she is for responding to you like she did. Obesity is a medical condition that needs to be addressed just as high blood pressure, heart trouble etc. etc. DO NOT let her defeat you. You've come a long way my friend. Call your diatician and ask her to assist you. Hugs - carolyn PS Just think how big your apartment will feel once you have your surgery! LOL
    Topic: RE: Dr Beausoleil
Hi Vicki Did you reach Dr. B? This will get his nurse 1-5-6-869-2090 Hugs = Carolyn

Topic: RE: 10 days post op: hitting rock bottom
Awww Sarah honey - wish I could give you a big hug. First, phone Lise at the clinic and talk to her, she has seen a lot of wls patients. Of course you know I have had lap-band but I've felt many of your feelings. Your physical body has had a major change to it - expect emotional changes as well. I know we all feel that after wls "everything will be great".... Welcome to the reality. We still have to fight the urges to eat And when we can't, we get cranky!! lol Think back on your years to times when things were rough - you made it through didn't you. You will make it through this as well. Give yourself time. Ask Lise to connect you with another person or group in your area so you can get feedback from them or just use them as a sounding board. Others with your type of wls will know exactly what your going through. About that leg thing - please get it checked sooner rather than later. Sending you a huge hug - Carolyn
Topic: RE: 6 days post-op from Lap Gastric Bypass
Hi Sarah, Wow your getting more than i thought you would. I know about the eating thoughts. *sigh* Funny how the years tend to change you. I remember dreaming about "the right guy", now food! What's up with that???? Oh yeah I'm 57........ Every time I see you name here, I can picture that big smile of yours and that upbeat personality. I am so happy for you as well as your family. Hugs - Carolyn PS I haven't heard from Roger.
Topic: RE: I now know what PBing is
Hi Deb, I have lost 60 lbs. (26 before surgery). I'm 57 so maybe that's the baggey skin thing. Bet you can't wait! LOL I'm looking good though in spite of my "chickin neck". I started doing deep water aquacize which has given me a boost. I have a bad knee and find it very hard to walk although I'm trying. My wheezIng and panting and rivers of sweating have gone. Can't believe how great it feels. I can actually climb a flight of stairs now without sitting on the top step to catch my breath. So many of us can relate to that experience. In my before lap-band life, all I drank was diet pepsi. Think about it - 287 lbs drinking DIET pop!!!! Now I'm having a heck of a time getting the water that I need into me. You also mentioned extra strands of hair. One morning I was racking the cat for laying on my pillow until I noticed the hairs were grey - not orange. I gave kitty extra salmon for dinner as an apology. I'm not real faithful taking my vitamins so I wonder if that contributes to it?? Anyway, we're doing alright!! Hugs - Carolyn
Topic: RE: I now know what PBing is
Way to go Deb!!! I had mine on July 7th. Not having any problems. Wellllll one itty bitty one - I am having a heck of a time going to the bathroom since surgery. I went to Penningtons the other day and got a pair of my favorite jeans. I went from a 28 to a 22. Everyone in the store was wondering why the crazy old dame was jumping up and down. (I'm still not at the back flipping stage) The hardest part is the "head hunger". My brain still wants to chew all the time. I was a "grazer". Elsie the cow had nothing on me. I'm hoping it's like quitting smoking - the urge will go away after time. So glad your doing great. Think of all the great clothes you'll be wearing next summer. Damn though I hate the baggy skin. *sigh*. Hugs - Carolyn
    Topic: RE: Broke the barrier!
Hi Jay - see Sarah underneath you *don't jump up and hit the cieling* I mean under your email message. Email her and ask her about details of post surgery. She is married with a couple of kids so she'll know!! Hugs - Carolyn
    Topic: RE: Broke the barrier!
*standing ovation* Way to go my friend. Keep plugging away. All good thigs come to those who wait. lol Keep up the great work. I know how hard it is. Hugs - Carolyn
