I personally loved my surgeon in Hickory. His name is Dr. Cox at Hickory Surgical Wieghtloss Clinic. But their are other doctors who sound just as great in Charolette/Winston Salem.

Hey Charlene! My surgeon was Dr. Michael Melkonian, he is with Carolina Surgical Clinic in Charlotte and he shows that he accepts Aetna...check him out at: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/forums/insurance.phtml?ID=984253466 Also, another great surgeon I would like to recommend is Dr. Roc Bauman of Carolina Weight Loss Surgery in Concord, NC, he has also taken Aetna, and my husband is having his surgery done on 2/13 by Dr. Bauman...you can check him out at: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/forums/insurance.phtml?ID=984253466 Be sure you check out your surgeon completely and feel comfortalbe with them before you obligate yourself. This is a major step in your life and once you get into it and have the surgery you want to make sure you have a doctor that will be there for you in the future as well. Best of luck! Nancy

I have my surgery TOMORROW!!! Yippee! My surgeon is Roc Bauman and I have been very, very pleased with him and his staff. (I also checked out the surgeons/programs at both CMC and Presby before deciding on Dr. Bauman and Northeast Medical Center. It's the only designated program of excellence in the region.) Everyone send me some good vibes as I head in at 7:30am tomorrow. Off to drink my bowel-blowing pre-surg laxative now. (Doesn't bother me a bit though, because I know what it's getting me ready for... a new life!) Good luck in your search!!

I see Dr Fernandez at Wake Forest. You can check out their website about their bariatric program. There is an information/support group meeting every month. Feel free to email me if you want further information. I am a nurse practitioner and I think their program is very good. Susan
