Topic: RE: How am I gonna Pay for this

Mike, I have the same BCBS. I am ending up paying 3,700 the week before surgery. I have had a 2nd job for the last 6 months to pay this and its cutting it close. I thought it would be 6800 and would have to wait even longer. Nope. No payment plans. Sorry to say. Too many people dont make the payments that they say they will. Susan

Topic: RE: how long depression last

Hello Donna. I think after any surgery you can have the "down in the dumps" feeling. I know I did after surgery before. Both times I didnt feel like myself for about 4-5 weeks. Also with this surgery you are in a negative calorie, fat burning mode. For the first few weeks of this state many people feel bad..any type of weight loss that is fast...I know once when I lost 42 pounds in 5 months; the first 2-3 weeks I didnt feel good. Hopefully it will lift soon. Susan

Topic: Does anyone have an idea why.................................

Hello all! I am scheduled for surgery April 25 and trying to prepare myself emotionally and mentally. Does anyone have any idea why some post ops say that the surgery (lap) hurts very much and some say they didnt hurt very much at all? A friend of my said she felt no pain and I read others say it hurt worse than anything they had had in the past. Oh......an another thing. Is the pain from the small incisions or deep in the abdomen....or maybe it's gas pains.....? Susan (lap RNY April 25, 2005)

Topic: RE: BCBS no longer is Baptist a preferred provider??!!!???!!!

Thanks for everyone's respnses. If, and I stress if, I can get the surgery before June 1st I will be covered. My out of network deductable is 40% which is high. I will already have a 20% deductable as it is. If anyone knows how to light a fire under Ms. Smoak, please let me know. How can it possibly take over a month to get a consult typed?????? NOW she has made me not like her. Does she really support this surgery????? I have had everething ready except her for 6 weeks!!! Have asked for it to be speeded up but to no avail. Susan

Topic: BCBS no longer is Baptist a preferred provider??!!!???!!!

Help! I need an angel or some support. I am preop. I have everthing ready for the insurance company and yesterday got a letter from my BCBS company and it said they no longer participate with Baptist!! I have been planning this surgery for 2 years and have been working with Dr. Fernandez and Susan since January. I am waiting to hear from Susan today. I am a mess with worry. I cant believe Ive made it this far only to hear this news. I cant think of anything else. I have money saved for the co pay but cant pay the total 24,000 out of pocket. (the pockets are not that deep). Susan
