On a daily basis we get calls from members in desperate need of surgeons that will accept Medicaid and or Medicare for Bariatric surgery. It breaks our hearts when we have to say "we don't know of any surgeons in your state we can refer you to". Can you please help us? If you know of any surgeons in your state that accepts Medicaid and or Medicare, will you list their: Name If they accept Medicare and or Medicaid Phone number Facility Address This list will remain here for our members to access and use. I do know that people with Presbyterian Salud (one of 3 medicaid HMO in our state) can see Dr. Acosta and Lara at Del Sol in El Paso, TX. I had lap RNY on 3/4/08 and I have Presbyterian commercial insurance. The staff members there always told me it was easier to get an approval from Pres Salud than insurance - although I had no problems anyways. And my sister in law had her surgery there 9/07 with Pres Salud. As far as the other 2 Medicaid HMO we have in NM - Lovlace and Molina, I dont know of any providers for them.

I was also referred to El Paso at Del Sol, by my primary Dr. ...will be covered by Blue Cross, though. |

How long did this take for you to get into see him. I was referred by my DR. Anything I should know? How long did the process from first appointment to surgery? I'm almost afraid to ask. So after March 15. They will stop cover for WLS, My case worker stated this. So My WLS WAS push back to next week. I am lucky ones to get mind. |

| Post Date: 7/31/11 9:59 pm Hello everyone! I have been searching to find out which Medicaid programs in New Mexico will pay for Lap Band surgery. Does anyone know if Lovelace Salud, Molina, BCBS Salud, or Pres Salud will pay for the Lap Band surgery? Any help would be appreciated very much. I am extremely worried about my weight and the health problems I have developed. If anyone has any experience getting a New Mexico Medicaid program to pay for their WLS, please let me know how it went. I am going to a seminar at Lovelace Westside hospital to learn more about the Lap Band System. God Bless! |

 Rio Rancho, NM Member Since: 10/02/08 [Latest Posts] | Post Date: 8/3/11 8:54 pm Unfortunately Medicaid does NOT pay for any type of WLS. However, if I remember correctly (as it has been a year since I went to the seminar in Rio Rancho) You can self pay, and they have payment arrangements. I would also suggest getting a book by Jean McMillan called Bandwagon. She discusses the Lap Band in depth.
