Topic: Maybe there is no hope left
I don't even know if anyone comes to this forum anymore. I started my profile back in 2008. So as everyone can see this has been an ongoing issue for me. I am fusterated I feel like there is no hope left. I don't want to feel this way. I just want to be happy. Don't I deserve to feel that way? Maybe I need a friend or some kind of support system. I don't have any of the above. I feel all alone, on a journey with no end in sight.

Topic: RE: New Mexico Surgeons?
I went to Phoenix/St. Luke's and had Dr. Juarez do my surgery.

There weren't any Gastric docs here in NM and my daughter lived in Mesa at the time so I stayed with her for two weeks for my post op.  That worked out wonderful for me.

There used to be a website about pets/hotels, but I don't remember the name of the site.

Good luck and God Bless you.

Dr Sauceda from Monterrey Mexico will be doing PS consults on June 1st and 2nd in Las Vegas.

Dr S is my plastic surgeon and he has done wonders with my body! After losing the weight I have, I knew I'd need everything done! He has an all inclusive price if your surgery costs $7K or more. His care is excellent - so if you're close to needing your plastic surgery and you know you will be self-pay, as I was, please contact me and we can set you up for an in person consult!

Sorry I don't know of any hotels that except pets.  There is a support group meeting tonight at 6pm for WLS (at the Solo club).  You might come and ask them?  They all used Dr. Lara or Acosta for the most part.  I found this on google...maybe that will help?  http://hotels.petswelcome.com/chains/

Topic: Revision 4/10 Questions!!!!!!
Hey there! Our board is not very active but I'm hoping there's a lot of people lurking because I need some help!
I am revising from a band to a sleeve and some planning assistance for my time in El Paso.

Anyone know of a good hotel that has at least:

micro
fridge
high speed internet
*accepts dogs (2--black lab and a boxer)

and secondly, I desperately need a doggy daycare in El Paso!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all!

If I were a shoe I would have to be comfy...no heels for me Burks fit my personality
If I were anyone in the world ....it would be me, always learning.  I would always be 2nd if I wanted to be some one else.  I am the best ME!!!

Katherine, I am new to this sight.  I am 60 yrs old and really want to lose the weight.for health reasons.  Asthma!!!  I am scared to death.  This may sound rather strange but the #1 thing that is brothers me is  What about all of the skin after the GB.  I am different.  I love to swim so much that I really don't care what people think of me in a swim suit.  I have 15 suits and not one with a skirt...like at my size a skirt is going to help me look better so I just get the nicest suit and I must say a bit sexy  with all of its flair and hit the pool.
I have seen pictures of all the hanging skin and it freaks me out! when I hear that insurance will not cover surgery! OMG  Man I really think I am jumping the gun eh?  I don't think losing the weight will be a concern with the help of a GB as I love all the right food but I need help to keep eating the right food .  I am so mixed up.  I don't have the attitude of eating anything I want.  I think I have a healthy attitude.  I m just spinning my head is spinning ( song??)  I wnat this but I want to laugh while I am doing this I want it to be a joyful experience.  Your post seemed happy, and positive.  Thanks for listening to this crazed woman.  Dorian

HCSC Removes Mandatory Pre-Operative Weight Loss Requirement

Health Care Services Corporation (HCSC), the parent company of BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) of Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico has eliminated the mandatory six month weight loss requirement prior to bariatric surgery.
Multiple meetings and correspondence between ASMBS members and Medical Policy representatives of HCSC resulted in this improved access to care for patients suffering from obesity.   Access to care became more onerous when HCSC increased the preoperative requirement from three to six months on March 15, 2011. That led to a meeting between the officers of the Illinois State Chapter of ASMBS, Drs. Christopher Joyce and Rami Lutfi, and BCBS of IL at which time clinical data was provided and reviewed. The Chairman of the Insurance Committee, Dr. Jaime Ponce, the Chairman of the Access to Care Committee, Dr. John Morton, and the Chairman of the State Chapters Committee, Dr. Lloyd Stegemann provided valuable assistance and guidance. In addition, the draft of the ASMBS Position Statement on Preoperative Supervised Weight Loss Requirement was instrumental in preparation for the meeting. Through Dr. Stegemann, similar efforts were applied in Texas between its State Chapter and BCBS of Texas.   After months of correspondence between the state chapters’ leadership and BCBS, followed by an objective internal review of the medical evidence by the medical policy makers, HCSC came to the conclusion that the pre-operative weight loss requirement should be removed. That was revealed at a meeting in Chicago between the President of ASMBS, Dr. Robin Blackstone, the President of the Illinois Chapter of ASMBS, Dr. Joyce, and the Director of Medical Management of BCBS of IL, Dr. Rose Ann Madarang, on September 21, 2011.

I will probably  go to Lubbock Tx., Advanced Bariatric Center for my surgery since a friend had hers done there and is very happy with it (3 yrs. later). I was also referred to El Paso at Del Sol, by my primary Dr. ...will be covered by Blue Cross, though.

New news:  I was told that Applebaum was no longer doing Bariatric.  He has another specilaty.  Dr. Acosta is a plastic surgeon, I've seen him before.  He's very good for plastic.

I've heard that Dr. Clapp is awesome.  I plan on him being my new doc, once insurance approves.
