Trying to keep myself busy this week, I have a lot of cleaning to do this week. I dont want to come home to a mess. trying to think of all the things I want to pack, I read somewhere to bring chapstick, never used it in my life, but I bought it anyway to bring. i am bringing my laptop to the motel the night before. I am not sure If I will get service at the hospital, or if they will even let me bring it. I have a bag that locks if thats what they are worried about. Thinking about the phone, my family is going to want to get a hold of me, and I will want to call home, to check on my children, make sure all is well. Home is long distance i assume. I have a cell phone and will bring it but I have noticed alot of times that while in the hospital service is blocked. I do have to call my family. I cant go 2 to 3 days without knowing whats going on. unless of course I am out of it. G. Brewster |

Ok so im going into my second week of Medifat. WOW the first few days were hard but sometime during the sixth day someting must have clicked becasue it got easier. I have done alot of sole searching this week. Trying to make my body understand that although i thought i was starving i really wasnt it was in my head. (its really too bad i cant get a new head too). HATING the texture of the shakes sure hasnt helped but they gave me a soy free one this week and it has no milky feel . Im afraid to say but i actually like it. Anyway i am happy with my weigh loss this week 7 pounds. But i have no idea what te normal weight loss is. Can any of you that have doen this tell me what i should be loosing. The nurse was very sweet and told me i did a great job but i never thought to ask what is a :good weight loss". I am a little nervous as my surgery is in less than 3 weeks im not sure how much i can loose. My Dr.,has never said ok i want you to lose this amount. Any way after my ramble here i guess my question is this
How much weight should you lose each week on medifast.
Also did anyone else have a problem getting in all their shakes?
Thanks everyone and i hope EVERYONE has a week of WOW'S and happiness |

I'm not sure if the insurance company is concerned about an up or down movement, isn't usually the surgeon because he's the one who has to move your liver out of the way? I'm not sure what your insurance requirement is. I hope that you don't have a problem.
Stay positive! ^Lauren^

My doctor is out of network, however he accepts GHI's payment checks plus the copays. I am very lucky and he is a fantastic doctor. His name is Edward Cussatti and he is in West Islip, NY. He works out of Good Samaritan Hospital also in West Islip. He is a wonderful and caring surgeon. Tell your friend that he is worth the trip to Long Island! His office phone number is 631-422-0909. PM me if you need any other information. |

There are a lot of similarities between what you have gone through and my journey! Our golden retriever died one year ago yesterday, and right after that my ex bailed out of our marriage. I am just starting year 2 of a 3 year master's degree (Nurse Practitioner) and it has been very challenging. My friends and family keep reminding me how many changes my body and mind and spirit have been through, and to take it easy on myself. It's sometimes hard to remember that major body and mind changes take a while to catch up to!
If you aren't already, I hope that you and your spouse consider therapy. It can be very helpful.
Congrats on your tremendous success after surgery! 53 pounds! Go Girl! Congrats also on the marriage of your daughter and soon to be marriage of your son. What a sweet time for them and for you.
I don't think folks always realize what changes do occur after a major body transformation like with WLS. It IS a roller coaster ride, and certainly worth the rough and bumpy, but it is just that: a rough and bumpy ride!
Good luck with school! Thanks for your input.

This was even before I had any of my preop testing done . My insurance company approved me in 2 days after all the required information had been submitted. I acutally got a phone call from my insurance company to tell me that I had been approved for surgery. This was about two weeks prior to surgery.
Good luck. Don't be afraid to call your insurace company and ask where you are in the approval process. I would think they should be very excited to tell you that you have been approved for a $50,000.00 surgery.

They MUST submit your paperwork ASAP!! Some insurance companies take longer than others for approval. I,too, am surgprised that they scheduled your surgery without the approval first.
Good luck with all of this. Keep us informed.

And stepped on their scale that wasnt level and it said I weighed 10lbs more than I did with the scale upstairs! Naturally i was almost in tears. I asked everyone who would listen if that meant the surgery would be cancelled, and the one said she didnt know. but the other nurse said she has never seen it happened. and the dr said the only thing he has seen is surgeries cancelled over high gluclose. Now I cant rest easy. I didnt see the surgeon, but the PA. Which weight goes to the insurance to be approved the one at the Surgeon consultation or the pre op? I heard the the one at the surgeon's appt. I saw him the last time. my next appearance is the actual surgery sept 16 G. Brewster |

Someone I know went ahead and had her RNY at NYU and the surgeon's office told her it was OK'ed and now she's has a $29,000 medical bill her insurance won't pay because she took NYU's word that things were set up ahead of time.
