roll to the side of the bed. Then use your arms to push you up. This put the pressure on your arms instead of stomach. Do not e afraid to take pain meds. Walk but no marathons remember to let yourself heal

Welcome home, to the bench and the twos Margo!

Getting in and out of bed is difficult at first and yes, can be painful. I'm hoping the nurses showed you the "turn on your side, lower your feet, push up with your arms" move? My muscles were also very sore at this point.

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Every day gets a little easier.

Karen

Thanks Karen,

Yes they showed me the turn n slide but for some reason i feel worse doing that than if i push myself forward up on my arms straight then turn and swing my legs over. Just didn't know if there was a better way.

Thanks for the helpful tips though :)

What PatM and Karen have both said...the roll and slide works great.  I have a bad back and that's how I get out of bed most days.

Congrats on your surgery....Happy Healing.  Just remember to take things slow.

Hi Margo - The nurses told me to always breath out when doing any intense movement as it creates less pressure on those muscles. Take care to move slowly, sip, let the gas go, and rest when you can.  Glad you are home and congrats on your continuing journey to a new life of better health.
