Hi

My name is Heather I live in NS, the wait list here is at minimum 10 years, yes 10 years, I would like to have my surgery in Ontario in hope wait list are shorter, it needs to be a public hospital and Ontario has reciprocal billing with NS.

Any suggestions or ideas

Hi and welcome, Heather :)

The best place to start would be with the Ontario Obesity Bariatric Network: http://www.ontariobariatricnetwork.ca/ . From there you can link to the Bariatric Registry. It sounds like you need a good doctor on your side in NS to get you started - the link to the network and registry may help.

Good luck and let us know how you make out!

Karen

Thank you so much, that is where I will start, I have a great family Dr. she placed me on the wait list here but 10 years is too long to wait, currently they are seeing the 2008 referrals!

I will keep you posted on this journey.

I really feel for you re. the terrible waiting list situation. We are extremely lucky in Ontario, yet people complain about the "long" wait here (usually about 12-18 months). I really hope you and your doctor can figure this out, Heather.
