Next Steps...

Hi all - I have an appointment scheduled with the surgeon this Friday (May 29), and am wondering if anyone can confirm what the next steps will be after this meeting? I have been waiting so long for this, I hope I am closing in on the actual surgery!

Any guidance would be appreciated - I probably need to manage my expectations about what is next :)

What centre are you going through? The different centres have the surgeons visit at different times. For me being through Windsor and Toronto Western, my surgeon's visit was six weeks before my surgery.

Thanks for the responses - I realized after reading a couple of posts that each centre does work differently. I am at TWH - I have been told that this is the last appointment, but wasn't sure if I would be walking out of it with a surgery date scheduled, or would still need to wait to hear from the surgeon's office... 

You spend months (if not years, in my case) making the decision to have WLS, then when you finally make it you have to wait up to another year to have the surgery! Patience is a virtue, I suppose... 

Yeah I think each center is different. At HRRH we saw the surgeon, agreed to move ahead in the program, had our other appointments.. (social worker, RN, dietician, etc), then we saw the surgeon again and scheduled surgery. My timeline is in my signature. Good luck!

When you meet the surgeon at TWH you should get a surgery date from the surgeon. It may change afterward, but if your appointment is the same as mine, they will give you a date. Mine was 17 weeks after, then changed to 20 weeks and then back to 18 weeks. No guarantees yours will be the same- that's just my experience.

Good morning - I'm in the same boat as you, and the same Dr!  Less than a month to go till I meet the dude.  I'm hoping the surgery date is sooner rather than later *fingerscrossed*

Depends for each center. I walked away from my surgeon appointment with my Opti prescription and surgery date. Best of luck and I hope you walk out with the same as well!
