Fibre

Hi Folks,

At the prep class we were told to take sugar free fibre capsules......I bought some Metamucil caps but they don't say sugar free.....I know Metamucil has a sugar free powder.  Is there another sugar free fibre Cap I could be looking for?  Also, where can I buy the Bullet - is that a shaker - brand name?

Thanks for any help.

I can't help with the fibre part of your post. No one at my clinic mentioned them. I would talk to the pharmacist if you can't get the answer here.

If you mean the Magic Bullet...this is an electric type of blender available anywhere that sells small appliances. I bought mine at a yard sale for $8. ☺️ It was crucial for me when I was on Opti. Good luck! Kim

If you have a blender -- that works fine with Opti. I am currently loading up w/ 4 ice cubes and water up to the 2 cup mark. Crush the ice with the blender and pour into a pint beer glass. You can use less water for a thicker shake --

If you are sent on a "Bullet" - Wally Mart has 'em - http://www.walmart.ca/en/appliances/small-appliances/blenders-juicers/magic-bullet/N-653+1021931?cmpid=PPC_Google_Search_Standard-Search_EN_296318349_21695036949_blender%20magic%20bullet_75772472589_c_b_1t1_100182107432663_3082&gclid=CKjg_Mei68YCFQ-maQodlC0Jrg

Does the thing you bought list sugar as an ingredient?

there is more than one kind of sugar free Metamucil. Metamucil is a brand name and the active ingredient is psyllium husks. They contain the fibre, help your colon absorb water, and all that jazz.

Having nothing to do with weight loss, I took the capsules to bulk things up. This is because I was very sick and no way I was going to keep any flavoured powdered stuff down (with or without sugar). So, that could be an option for you. But it all depends on what you're supposed to be doing with it.

Thanks I'll check it out....re the sugar....it is very obvious on the powder. Pkg that it is sugar free.   Was told to take it with Opti to minmize unpleasant side effects. I appreciate your nights.

I've only seen the capsules that have no added sugar.  If it has a blue lid then you should have the right one but check the ingredients, should just be psyllium husk and gelatin and a few other things but none are sugar. They make a capsule that is called plus calcium but usually it's just the regular capsules they recommend.

Thank you.....very helpful.  My container has an orange loud. I'll look for a blue lid. Thanks again.

At the Ottawa WMC they suggest taking the Metamucil capsules while we were on Optifast...it helped with constipation but it also helped with optitrots...I was skeptical that it would help with optitrots but it really worked. I haven't taken them since I had my surgery in March.

As for the Magic Bullet...brand name blender. You can find that at Walmart and Canadian Tire.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Tammy.  I am at Ottawa too and will have the same surgeon.  Wonderful to hear that the fibre really helps with the Opti. I hope you have had a good experience and positive outcomes with your surgery.

Thanks again.

You are in great hands with Dr. Yelle!

So far I have had a very positive experience and no regrets. I did have some issues with food staying down after the pureed stage so I had to do pureed foods for longer than most and take a stomach med prescribed by WMC. (They are fantastic if you run in to any problems.) If that's the worst that I have to go through, you won't hear any complaints from me! I'm still waiting for the energy folks speak about...but I have noticed a huge improvement in feet and knees (no pain) and hips move differently when I walk now. Very interesting how the mechanics change as the weight comes off.

Looking forward to following your journey. :)
