Is it odd...

I have an appointment to meet my surgeon this coming Friday. I don't have a date yet for my surgery.

The hospital just called to give me my preadmission appointment. It's November 8. The clerk that gave me the preadmission appointment thought it was weird I didn't know the date but couldn't tell me that information herself....

It's weird to me that I have my preadmission but not a date for the actual surgery. I work full time and wish they'd tell me when my surgery is as I have to book time off.

Sigh. I guess I'm more complaining than inquiring. But let me ask, how long after your preadmission was your surgery?

My surgeon gave me the date when I met her on telehealth...so I don't think it's odd.  My surgery was about 8 weeks after meeting surgeon via video conference.

Depending on where you are having surgery, you might get your date on Friday.  For some centres, that's when you find out.  When I did mine in Ottawa (5 years ago), they said that they take the first week of the month, and schedule the next month's surgeries.  Ask your surgeon on Friday when you'll find out (if he doesn't already give you a date).

You'll get your date when you meet your surgeon on Friday. You can call your surgeon's office and explain they called you for your hospital appointment, I'm sure they already have your date. Your surgery has to be within a month of your preadmission appointment. They will do blood work that day and they will use the results for your surgery and they're only good for a month. I think my surgery was 2 weeks after my admission appointment.

I agree with all of this - mine was 2 weeks too. You should call and ask!
