THANKFUL TRAVELER

Well, it's my last day at work and I'm exhausted. Thankfully I know I'll get in a good 3 to 4 hour completely uninterrupted nap tomorrow. I have no fear, nor anxiety - just a lot of excitement and thankfulness. My consistent positive outlook may add to some members' nausea, but it is sincere.

When I started the journey I was unsure whether this route was right for me. My doctor suggested that I go to the orientation and go from there. Each visit with a member of our healthcare team explored a little bit of who I am and how I got here. It was an emotional journey, to say the least and so very important. I learned so much and KNEW that this is what I needed to do to improve my overall health and to get a little bit of the old Linda back who used to be active, and energetic. I had gone through a serious bout of depression about 6 years ago, and went through a similar journey until I reemerged stronger, happier and more in control. I am constantly reminded that due to our exceptional healthcare system this option is available to me and I don't have to mortgage my house to pay for it. The members on this site rally together to inform, support, encourage and, sometimes, provide a reality check and a lambasting for those who may stray.

I may have a few butterflies (are they considered protein?), but I remain a thankful traveler who knows how lucky I am to be on this journey and who welcomes the chance to get back to being me - new and improved.

Thank you to all; I have learned so much and appreciate your support.

Linda
