Dietitian
Thanks for the huge response and encouragement I got from so many of you when I posted that my trip to the Internist did not go so well. Yesterday I went to the Dietitian and it went very well. It was very informative and encouraging. I know I am on the right track. There is a problem with my vitamin D however. It is low and therefore affecting my calcium levels. They won't schedule me with the surgeon until that is under control. So....I wait some more. That's ok though. I will get through this eventually!!

That is great to hear! At least this is just a minor set back and you should be good to go in a month/month and a half! You will have surgery and be on the losers bench this year.

Actually I am adding something, the internist should have flagged that. If I was you, I would file a complaint about the experience and note that the doctor did not flag something from your blood work. My vitamin D was low but not affecting calcium but the internist still brought it up and I told her it was addressed by the dietician and I have increased my daily intake.

Sorry I didn't mention this before..., it was the Internist that saw it the day before. He mentioned it to me and had me go do blood work right there so we could find out about the calcium. It was then when I met with the dietitian that she showed me the results.

I am so glad you had a positive appointment. My vitamin D is low as well, I have been taking supplements since January. I will have blood work in a couple of weeks to see if I am in the normal range.

Yes, I don't think it takes too long. I was told to take two vitamin D pills daily instead of one.
