New here and looking for friends :)

Hi everyone. :) My name is Shanna, I am in Ontario, and I am getting RNY on July 11th in Kingston. Just wanted to say hello and ask if I can friend request some people. I know I will need support and I want to do whatever I can to be successful at this. Thanks for reading!

This is a great place to be, pre and post op. You'll find TONS of great support and friends (you can friend me, PM me - but you'll get just as much out of posting publicly... whatever you prefer!), and maybe even a local support group? I'm not sure who is in your area, but start a thread about it? Always feel free to start a thread about any question you have.

I am pre op, and have learned so much! I've made friends here too who support me in and off the boards. It really is a great board.

Your surgery is coming up quickly. So exciting!!! Welcome!

I am excited actually. I had a quick "OMG, what am I doing" moment when I got the date, haha... but then I realized that I dont lose much (other than the weight, obviously!) doing this, but I have so much I can gain back. I also decided that the risk of major complications is super low, but if I dont do this now, I will end up diabetic in a couple years. Or with heart disease, or bad knees, etc, etc. Once I got over that moment, I got excited. :) I am ready to get going now.
