Hi All,

It's been almost 2 months since I have been on OH. So thought I would come and update you all, and welcome to all the new people :) Bit of a long post so please bare with me. I had surgery on Aug 1st, with Dr. Okrainec. Everything went well. Was sent home the next day. 2 days later I was admitted back into the hospital as I wasn't able to keep anything down even water. Turned out I had early dumping syndrome. Went home a few days later. A few more days passed and back to emerge I went, again couldn't keep anything down and was having pain in my new pouch. Turns out I had an ulcer. Went back home and almost home for a week and was back in again to emerge. Turns out I'm lactose intolerant now, my insides were raw from all the issues going on and I had IV of potassium and magnesium as I was dehydrated and my electrolytes were out of whack. Was admitted for a week, and since I've been released I haven't been back since. It was hell for the entire month of Aug but I would still do the surgery in a heartbeat. I am down just over 50 lbs and 21 inches overall. Finally get to go back to work next Monday, it's been a crazy 8 weeks that's for sure. Thanks for listening. If your preop, what happened to me may not happen to you, we are all different and heal differently and I wish you all the best in your journey.

Sounds like you've been through most of the list of "what could go wrong ", and got through it like a trooper

You just never know how strong you are until you have to be.

Great news that your on the mend, and looking to the light.

Congrats on being so positive

I too had a (rare) complication one month post op that required a 12 day admission to hospital (also with Dr. Okrainec- he's AWESOME!) but wouldn't change a thing as I'm down 130 lbs. and feeling GREAT!!

Keep up the good work and good luck on your return to work!

Wow, you haven't had an easy go of it! I hope things are smoother from here on out! Thanks for sharing. It's a good reminder that although complications are rare, they do happen.
