TWH - Dietitian

So I'm looking ahead to my final appointment, the Dietitian. I've long since finished my homework given in the nutrition class and just have the 3 day food record but I believe they want it to be recent.

I'm curious as to what they are looking for. I've started using my fitness pal to log my intake. I was always happy with paper and pencil but have been enjoying scanning food options into my phone!! I rarely drink with my meals anymore. I've cut out soft drink, and junk food. Is there a certain quantity of food I should be moving towards? I feel like I eat pretty well now but there's always room for improvement. And I'd like to make those improvements prior to my appointment.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Karen

That's awesome, Karen.

The TWH dietitian I met with was pleased to see I had made changes in my diet... so you're on the right track with what you listed there. She was also pleased I had variety in my meals and snacks... I ate pretty much all of my meals at home, and a wide variety of foods.

There is a whole form she goes through asking if you drink this or eat that... it's all standard stuff. Just be honest. Things like sweetened coffees and pasta and whatever. Some of my answers were positive, some got me to my pre-surgery weight. I didn't get there by without eating my way there! But I was committed to change. :)

Also, really important - know the phases of the diet after surgery.

You got this! They aren't trying to fail you... they just want to make sure you are setting yourself up for success!!

Thanks!

I still have some time before the appointment but want to make sure I'm doing all I can to prove that I'm committed to the program and the changes I need to make. In my head though I'm thinking if my meal plans are perfect she'll think I'm lying because clearly I don't eat perfectly or else I wouldn't be here. Then again, obviously I will have made some changes or I wouldn't be as far in the process as I am. Guess I'm stressing and over thinking everything. Just feels like I'm so close to getting what I need/ want.

Stop stressing!! And honestly, you can tell her that. Lol. I was so honest... they love us to be honest. It shows how much we want this, how hard we're trying, and how much change we're implementing. Be you. It will win every time!!!

IF you don't know you can print out your myfitnesspal meal plans

Go to the bottom of your food diary on the computer.

click "view full report (printable)"

select the dates you want and the report features you want.

hit print.

(fun note, if you print to pdf, or document A feature on many computers you will have a digital copy of your food diary. something you may need to send the NUT in the future if you have troubles not that you will but if anyone has that problem it is a handy way of showing what you are eating)

I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday!

I just added my dietitian to MyFitnessPal and made my diary view-able, so I never needed to print anything, she could go in anytime and look at as many days as she wanted.

Thanks for that info, I didn't know. I haven't played within the app except to scan anything I can find! It thrills me every time!! Simple minds I guess. Sometimes it wows me that it's so easy to track what I eat right down to the sodium content. Which I always find to be a frightening number.
