Appointment with surgeon at HRH.

This past Thursday, I had my appointment with the surgeon, Dr. Huynh, who will be doing my Gastric Sleeve surgery. He was so approachable, professional and knowledgeable. I asked him direct questions about his surgical background especially with gastric sleeve (I have a mild case of Crohn's). He actually invited my direct questions. He even said that people ask questions of their mechanic and he would expect no less from his patients.

He knew exactly the implications of my case and the decision for the sleeve. He outlined the necessity of preparing for the surgery, the surgery procedure and post-op life. I left feeling my "stomach" is in good hands!!!

My appointments with the dietician, social worker and nurse are in late March 2018. I have 3 months to continue working towards my goal. I have lost 40 lbs since February 2017 (slow and steady) and exercise regularly. I have had some challenges with my relationship with food: moments of binging, Christmas parties and all the goodies around this time of year, but unlike the past I get back on that saddle and try, try, try again!!!

I am trying to learn to chew my food 30 times each bite, reduce my carbs and stay active!!! I am drinking more light caffeine green tea and less coffee. Going to miss my coffee!!! Danger of acid reflex with the gastric sleeve if you continue drinking caffeinated drinks such as coffee.

Any advice anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated? Anyone else had Dr. Huynh as a surgeon?

I have decaf coffee every day and am

almost a year out. To me now it makes no difference - you can try that. I never took sugar or sweetner in my coffee just cream but its something you can try. I weined off before opti to avoid the caffiene withdrawls and now i prefer decaf. Somedays i dont even have a coffee! Kind of liberating

Thanks for the suggestion. I am only having one coffee in the morning for the last few months. It is a light roast so I could probably move to decaf.

How does one post their present and goal weight on that scale and info below their posts?

To log your weight, go to the pink plus sign top right hand corner and choose "log weight" on the drop down menu. For the info under your name (signature), go to the "wheel" top right hand corner beside the pink plus sign. Go to "settings" in the drop down menu.

Hope this helps.

I know! My very first comment ever on this forum was about not being able to navigate the site and could someone help me! So I know how you felt and I try to always answer these questions right away because so many people were helpful to me at the beginning so that I could get set up and feel a part of this wonderful group! Glad to know you have a handle on it now!

Hi! It looks like we have similar time lines at Humber:) I just had my surgeon appt last week ( Dr.Hagen) as well and my trio appt is for the beginning of March 2018. I was a little hopeful to be a little sooner than March but it's not too bad. I wish you the best of luck in your journey. Maybe we'll run into each other:)
