Abdominal cramping, should I be going to ER!?

I had surgery Monday, discharged Wednesday.

Everything was fine, I even stopped my pain meds and then on Thursday night I took the prescribed senekot for the first time.

By 3pm Friday (yesterday) I was extremely nauseous. Took gravol at 4:30, woke up around 8-8:30 still nauseous but now with constant severe stomach cramps. Around midnight they were no longer constant but coming in waves.

I took pain meds at 1am, woke up an hour ago and the cramps are still coming in waves! Still nauseous! (6:30am)

i know you guys aren't doctors, but I don't want to go if it's just a false alarm or reaction to the senekot! (Which I originally assumed) But over 12 hours of nausea?!?! Have any of you experienced this?

Hey girl,

Congratulations on having your surgery!

I am totally that girl who errs on the side of caution, so I would always recommend you go. But it may just be what you said... nothing, and a wasted trip.

Is the nurse hotline closed on the weekend? I thought it was 7 days a week but I could be very wrong. If they are open today, call them. If not, another option is to call Telehealth and get a nurses' opinion there. I think you can just dial 811 for Telehealth or google the number.

Good luck, feel better quickly... and if you do go to emergency, make sure you go to TWH or another bariatric cente... not somewhere who doesn't know our special cir****tances.

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. Choose happy.

I had nausea for a solid week for week 3 but I did not have the cramping. Nausea seems to be normal and I did have to go get a anti nausea prescription strength from my family doctor.

The cramping and pain with it makes me nervous. We aren't doctors this is true but a call to your clinic would be smart.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the reply! I went to the hospital, and my X-rays came back normal which is good. My lipase was a bit high, which is my pancreas marker. Emerg doctor said that might be due to surgery, but I have to go back in 48 hours to be rechecked!

I have a prescription for Zofran which is good, and it's what I took in the hospital! (Though very costly)

Thank you for checking in and suggesting that it's better safe than sorry! Funny, the discharge nurse called to check on me in the middle of it all!
