Topic: Surgery in PR with Medicare???
    Hi!

I have been in the plans of getting surgery for more than 4 years.  Finally I went to Dra. Santos in Cayey and they told me that soon they were going to start making the surgery in PR with Medicare.  After a few months I called again and they told me that they are not yet making the surgery because the doctor is not affiliated to Medicare.

I would like to know if someone knows about surgeries in PR made with Medicare as primary insurance.  I also have Triple S as secunday insurance.

The thing is that I live in Egypt and I came to PR to make the surgery, stay for the recuperation and return to Egypt where is my husband.  We estimated a year for all this.  It's been 1 1/2 years and I even don't have a concrete answer about Medicare and the surgery here in PR.  I have been thinking may be need to move to USA and find a dr there, but I'm afraid my economical status won't permit it.

I need help, advice and/or info!

Let me tell you something of course you find Puerto Ricans everywhere. Ja jajaja!

I was born in NY but moved down to Maryland in 1998 then to the Eastern panhandle of WV not far from Maryland just last year.

Congratulations on your wonderful weightloss in 3 weeks. That is Fantastic!

As for me I am a mother of 6 children.  3 adults and three small ones.  I have 4 grand children which I am blessed with.

I had my RNY in 3-06-07 and I have lost since pre-op a total of 111 pounds.  You can chek out my profile and read my blog since the beginning.  A lot happened and God has blessed me with my last child.  I became pregnant 3 months after having surgery which is not adviced. But it happened, eveyrthing went fine and I have a wonderful 21 month old baby girl.  You can see pics on my profile.

I want to wish you all the best in your journey and if there is anything I can help you with please do not hesitate to contact me.  I frequent the Marland forum often so you can find me there too.

    Take care,
    Cira

    thanks guys!!

well everything with my surgery has been going well so far... ive lost 20lb in my first 3 wks!! which i am a little excited about lol. I am currently staying in the dominican republic for the first 6 months after my surgery.. reason being I can follow up with my doctor and also to be close to my father.

well... i havent really been following recipes, now that i started eating "real foods" Ive just been modifying it. for example.. I have my chicken cook with sofrito and adobo I just ask them to limit the salt and not to use oil. The chicken soups and sancochos are the best!!  lol even if i dont get to eat the meats yet. and I do take the beans they make at home and just stick them in the blender.. como una crema de habichuelas.. i am still in an early phase so i dont have much options but eggs, chicken, and veggies.. for me leaving the rice hasnt been that hard. i think i am adapting well to eating healthier foods.. Ive learned within this process that the stomach doesnt distinguish taste(lol) the mouth does.. so regardless if you put a piece of fried chicken or baked... the stomach feels the same : full!. lol point is as soon as i start eating ill get you some yummy recipes!
