Weight Loss Surgery Directory

When people as you how much youve lost, do you include preop #?

Im just wondering what others say? Like I only lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks of lowcarb/high protein pre op diet, but it still feels light weight loss to me , but Ive lost alot more since sugery. Ive been giving the whole number to people, but is that misleading? Why am I thinking about this so much?

I wouldn't worry about being misleading.  You lost the weight in prep for the surgery, so it happened during the plan.  I just had my surgery, and I don't think I am even going to answer that question when it gets asked.  To me it just is too personal and nosey.  If someone wants to tell me I am looking good or healthy, I'd be happy to take the compliment, but if they want numbers....  I don't know...

I include it... I figure it was a requirement so it counts.

Start 260/ Surgery 249/ Goal 140/ Current 135       5.8"

I always just give both numbers, like "85 lbs total, 63 since surgery"
High: 336 / Surgery: 313 / Current: 250 / Goal: 165

I always give the total #.  I considered the preop diet as strict as anything I've done since surgery.
I always say, "i'm down 136 pounds from my highest weight!"

I give my heaviest. Hey, I was there and it counts!

I have HW (heightest weight), SW (surgery weight), and CW (current weight).  When I see people's stat's I know I like to see what amount since surgery and what that person's heighest weight was.   I think each person is different...do what you like!
That is a great post!! I have often thought of that too. I totally agree with Charity! I always look at those numbers too. So I will say from surgery I lost  this much weight, and I will also say I did lose so much weight in order to have surgery.

But I will only tell this  too those who are not asking just to be nosy! I'll say something like,  Yes I have lost a lot of weight to them, and  I feel great too. Thank you. And leave it at that.  Is that

1st goal to be under 200. Done!  2nd goal to be just obese. Third goal is to be under 170 by Thanksgiving 2009. I Pray I can make it. I know the Lord will help me through this.

take the pride...count 'em all.

I now say I am down XX when I started this whole process.  I am a band to rny conversion...so the numbers bounced around!

The 15 pounds I lost in the 2 week pre-op liquid diet were the hardest fought pounds I'd ever lost.  They are absolutely in my total.  And I never qualify my answer... "I've lost 100 pounds, but only 85 of that is since surgery."  No way!  LOL!  I'm claiming all 100 pounds and who cares when I lost which pound.  It's all part of my WLS journey.

My surgeon uses the weight that I was at the pre-admission testing appointment that was 2.5 weeks before surgery.  So those 15 pounds are even in my surgeon's total.

My surgery was one day after you on nov. 25th and all the weight I lost on the presurgery diet which was 5 1/2 weeks long did I say looooooooooooooooong you betcha I will include them. Like the others say they were part of the process and the hardest fought for in my life. Knowing I couldn't have that one last meal for fear of not loosing enough to make the Doctor Happy.  Yes I will always include the pounds and never break it down.
