I read that acidophilus is good for us post op--putting good bacteria back into our gut, increasing weight loss etc.................I have been taking it since surgery (18months) does anyone know are there still benefits to taking it this far out? Are there any studies on using it with patients not immediately post op???

Acidophilus is good to take non-post op. It helps keep the gut functionally properly and aids with digestion.

How many mg. of acidophilus do you take daily?  I'm stocking my medicine cabinet for scheduled surgery on 9/20.

I vary the brands I use so they aren't all the same doseage--some brands are culturelle, phillips colon health, etc.  I just make sure to get the capsules and open them up and put it in a drink--the pill ones are BIG!
