Constipation...TMI

I have totally jinxed myself with my earlier post. I am absolutely miserable since about 3pm today. Had to go and when I tried it was the most painful experience I have ever had. I was not able to go at all. Everything is there, but I don't know if it's too solid or what but there is no going to the bathroom. I had some Milk of Magnesia and also went and got some suposatories and nothing is helping. I know I need to go and really feel like I need to but just can't because of the pain.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is definitely no fun!

You may need to do an enema.   If that doesn't work then there is only one thing left and that is to glove up and, well, I'll let you figure that out.  I have had to do it and it is very unpleasant.
To help in the future buy some Miralax and take that daily.  It is tasteless so you can add it to your shakes or water.  I use it in my Crystal Light.  If it works for you you can ask your doctor for a prescription if your insurance will cover it.  That will save a lot of money.  I pay about $2.50 for 3 big bottles.
I also take 500 mg magnesium oxide twice a day and a lot of fiber, at least 25 grams a day, but that may take a while to get up to.  Also, stool softeners help.  Since I have been doing that I have been going daily like clockwork.
Good luck to you.  I know the misery you are going through.  I hope you feel better soon.

This is the worst. I had the same problem for a week. Wanted to die (literally). My doc said do one enema after another. He said I could do 10 if needed. Plus double and triple up on the Miralax. Also, said could do as much as I wanted but once I started going it could be a problem for a few days. I agree with the other post. You may need to get it out. (Sorry TMI)

For quick relief Dulcolax suppositories are da bomb! (no pun intended). You will be going in 15 minutes

To prevent future discomfort, Miralax or Benefiber every day.

I take a stool softener twice a day.  I never had hemorrhoids before surgery, but do now.

A suppository didn't help?  Sounds like it's time for an enema.  I'm sorry.

To prevent this from happening again, you might want to start doing a daily dose of Mirilax.  That, and magnesium oxide daily, seem to do the trick for me most of the time.

I had this problem last week for the first time. I did not bother with the suppositories or enema and just intervened "manually". It was horrible and I hope to never have to do it again.

I have been doing the following since and have had no issues:

Hot glass of decaf tea mixed with 3 spoonsfuls of Benefiber on an empty stomach first thing in the AM
400mg MagOx each time I take my calcium (3x daily)
2 stool softeners at night (I use generic Colace - NOT Peri-Colace)
1 dose Miralax every other night before bed

Things have been smooth moving ever since.

You poor thing--

Also try putting some good fats into your diet;  it's amazing how that helps.

I also eat a 1/2 of a microwaved sweet potato w/lots of butter on it once a week;  it really
does help.
