Surgery Tomorrow...FEAR

Well, I am having my band revised to RNY tomorrow. I am scared. I found out they are taking out my gallbladder and also my distal stomach remnant. I have written a will. Last night I was so upset because I haven't been able to lose this weight on my own with the band and exercise.  I haven't been active at all. I am so afraid that I will not lose weight like it seems so many on this forum experience.  Basically I am freaking out.
I have the exact same surgery next week. I wish you courage and good results.
I know that it is scarey but you will do great.  Be glad that they are taking your gall bladder because they didn't do that with me and I had complications later and it is now out.  Stay in touch and let me know how it goes.  I will be praying for you!!!

I am scheduled for Monday.  Stay focused.  This is your second chance to do this right and it will work if you follow the rules. Good luck tomorrow....I will say a prayer and send positive vibes your way!!!!

I feel your fear. I had a band for two years only to lose 30 pounds and gain back. I had the same fear you did. I have 3 children told them I loved them and that I was sorry if I didn't make it. They are all grown. This is pretty normal with what you are feeling. My revison was Oct 3rd and I am home and feeling great. I am able to get all my liquids down and protien drinks. You will do great. I am 56 years old and didn't excerise at all and I came through the surgery really good. Infact  I got comments from about 4 nurses on how good I looked and was doing. On my post op visit one week later I had lost 10 pounds and am losing about a pound a day. I know it will slow down as I progress but I feel this is the best decision I have made. I wish I would have done RNY first. I think what also helped was that I had the band first so it  prepared me for this surgery. I felt it prepared me for the stages that I am going through. I felt like a failure and was worried I would not lose weight and do good with RNY. Good luck and let us know how you are. You will do great. I remember waking up and thinking wow this was much eaiser that what I thought.
Hey there! You are not alone. I revised from band to RNY a bit over 2 weeks ago and feel wonderful! The best part is I have not experienced heartburn or reflux symptoms AT ALL since surgery! You are going to do awesome! Keep us posted.
Hope your day is great!

You will do fine. I'm scared too but my surgery is 2 weeks away. Try to relax, by reading, listening to music or something like that takes the stress away. If you believe in prayer, pray and ask God to give you strength and allow for a prompt recovery. Keeps us posted. Best of luck
