Does an ulcer make you feel full quicker?

Around the 4th of July I took a couple of NSAIDS to cut the swelling in my salivary gland. Then my stomach hurt (in the past I was safe with two doses not safe with three, but this was a different med than I'd used before).

Now I've found that the meals I'm used to eating I'm rejecting more than half of the meal. I get full SUPER fast. I'm also never hungry, but now I'm anti-hungry... in that when it's my scheduled time to feed a huge part of me says "do I have to?" This morning I woke up, and I literally put off eating for two and a half hours because I didn't want to eat.

So I'm wondering if my tummy hurt following the two doses of NSAIDs wasn't just an incipient ulcer, but instead have I hatched a full-blown ulcer that needs medicine to go away?

Or?

I still have glands somewhat swollen after a course of antibiotics (it might be due to a mouth-guard I've been wearing 24/7 that I've discontinued and the swelling is going down)...

And on Tuesday I got sun-sick, which  always makes me have issues, and the meals have been three or four times too large since then particularly. Following a bout of sun-sickness, I then had to deal with three hours of swimming while hanging on to the side of a capsized kayak while waiting to be rescued, and in 100+ heat following a sun-sick episode with only a hat and sunglasses to keep the sun off .... perhaps that's it.

Yesterday, the day after our lovely adventure in the lake, my breakfast gave me horrendous stomach pains (it was granola and low-fat yoghurt plus about an ounce of ham from a restaurant). Then lunch (a muffin leftover from breakfast) made me dump BAD and my stomach hurt.

Hm... come to think of it, I haven't had much of any meal feel good since the "event" on the lake.

So perhaps I'm just still getting over that event. But I do wonder if it's an ulcer. (and of course, the stress of our adventure could have piped up my acid levels)

Sounds like the post-stress from the event might be the culprit.  Stress does that to me, my pouch just closes up after a bite or two.

Post stress sounds a likely culprit.

Good thing I have 14 more days of vacation left!

I've been like that with my ulcer
Surgery 5/29/12...
I recently had two ulcers at one of the anastamosis sites that actualy landed me in the hospital for 3 days because they decided to open up and gush blood causing GI bleed so that was no fun

but the symptoms I had were a gnawing hunger pain, deep ache in my belly and deep low back aching pain that made me feel like I needed to bend over at the waist to relieve the pain. And because I decided to ignore THOSE symptoms, The passing out on the bathroom floor at 3am finally motivated me to the ER where my Hemoglobin was 6 and I was the color of baby powder...so that is my ulcer adventure story and if I had it to do all over again I would have called my doctor when I first started having the pains, but history has taught me that I really, really, REALLY must enjoy learning things the hardest way I can possibly find...

Best wishes to you!!

I think the ulcer may limit how much you can eat.
Note: I never had EGD confirmed ulcer.  Symptoms and that the treatment worked - indicated that I had ulcer (and some later confirmed blood - iron lost)

When I get an ulcer (or what I cal an ulcer) I can only eat 2-3 bites before I get painfully full.  Also - some food my upset the pouch more than others. Nuts and seeds - are no-no, same with anything acidic - tomato sauce - just kill me.
I learn to take my pills and I follow pouch friendly slider food diet for at least 1 week. I eat or drink very slowly - because otherwise - it hurts or I may get really sick.  Then I may try  more solid foods.
Soups, mild protein shakes (no chocolate) and so on.  Even yogurt - I need to be careful with.

The small qty of food - indicates to me that my pouch is really swollen.

Yeah... todday is the same.... I can't eat what I could.

Should probably start to treat the symptoms. My PCP and I agree that if I have the symptoms of an ulcer, rather than wait to get approved for an expensive procedure, it's just far simpler to treat for the ulcer when it's suspected and go from there.

I think that is what I'll do.

That's what my said - treat and if you feel better r- why waste money and time for a procedure with possible complications?

What worked for me:
antacid - PPI - 2 x day
carafate  at least 4 times a day - initially - first week - I took it 30 min before every meal.  (so at least 6 times a day)

meals: protein shakes . mild, thin
soups: fave: egg drop soup - made by me.  I ate that all the time: chicken stock - get it hot. Scramble 2 eggs with little be of cream - slowly pour into boiling stock - the egg will set - I would get very think - yet very soothing soup - put  some cayenne in it for taste (cayenne helps healing ulcer). If I used egg whites I added some butter - for little bit of fat. I ate that 2-4 times  day for the first week.
Some yogurt with proteins - but I made that also with bit of water - so it would not be very dense.

No nuts or grains.
mornings were the worst. the pouch would only tolerate warm things. Slowly.  The egg drop soup was so easy and had proteins. Chicken soup have healing properties.

Later - I was able to eat some mild turkey-beef meatloaf.  But only evenings

Normally - meal = 10 min ... with ulcer - take a bit wait, take some more. It took me 20-30 min to eat 1 -1.5 cup of soup.
The pouch stretches when full with food. It there is an injury - ulcer - the stretching may rip the new formed scab - and open the "ulcer". So keeping the pouch half empty - was my goal.
I chosed to be a bit hungry  - than in pain with  nausea.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I'm seeing my doc in a couple of weeks. I'll use leftover PPIs I have now, and keep things mild. I found that the more complex meals don't sit well but quiche sits well.

If the PPIs and other stuff doesn't make a difference after a couple of weeks or a month, it tends to be the simplest way of dealing with the issues.
