Percentage of Excess Weight Lost - how to calculate it!
This terminology seems to be thrown around a lot, so I was curious as to how to calculate it, and I bet others are, too. I calculated that I have lost 80% of my excess weight. I took my starting weight and subtracted my current weight, then took my starting weight and subtracted my goal weight (the weight at which my BMI is in the normal range. I then divided the first (actual weight lost) by the second (weight loss goal and then multiplied that by 100. Make sense? I'm sure!
(320-194=126) / (320-164=156) x 100 = 80.xxxxxx
126 / 156 = .8077
.8077 x 100 = 80.77
80.77% of excess weight lost
Pretty cool. Total weight loss percentage would be starting weight minus current weight divided by starting weight times 100.
320 - 194 = 126 / 320 = .39375 x 100 = 39.375% total body weight lost
:)
Great explanation for those of us who are innumerate!
