OT-lab result question for al you medical folks

I had a bunch of labs done and there are some numbers that are just slightly off so I am not super worried but just wondering what this means.  BUN is 20 (high, 7-18 normal), eGFR is 59 (low, over 60 normal) and Mean Platelet Volume is 10.6 (low, 10.8-13 normal).  My creatinine is 1.1 which is still normal but that is the upper limit.  I see a new PCP tomorrow and will review this with her but frankly, I tend to get more comprehensive answers here :)

High BUN can mean kidney issues, but if you eat more protein, your BUN can also naturally head to 20 or higher... personally I wouldn't worry about a level of 20 in absence of other symptoms, but of course see what your doc says.

eGFR is used to measure kidney disease.  It gets automatically tested when BUN is tested.  59 is a bit low and can indicate the beginnings of kidney issues... or it can mean nothing at all.  Again, see what your doc says. 

Creatinine can also run high depending on the amount of protein in your diet and the condition of your kidneys.

That's why they don't want you to eat high-protein meals before these kinds of blood tests, FYI.

I don't really know much about MPV... but I do know that when it's down, that can be a certain kind of anemia, and also certain vitamin deficiencies.

If your doc is concerned about any of these, I am sure she will conduct some more tests... but on the face of it (not knowing anything about you or your health of course as I am not your doctor), I wouldn't be overly super worried.

Thank you thank you thank you!  I am off to the doctor right now.  The weird thing is that my diet really wasn't high in protein in the days before this test though it was that morning so maybe that was enough to do it.  i am having a bunch of other weird problems and it is hard to figure it all out.  Thanks again!
