Realistic Goals

ok, I am going to preface this post with a "I know everyone is different" right off the get go, so with that being said I have a goal to be down 50 pounds by March 4,2015.  I am 5'9" current weight of 300.5lbs post op 11 days.  So is that a realistic goal?  I know pre surgery I would be happy with 5 lbs a month, but is 16 lbs a month achieveable? It seems so far out of the relem of possibilities.

My husband and I are flying to California for a week to see family and of course I wNt to wow them...... and fit into an airline seat.

Thanks for your feedback

I think it is realistic. I started a little heavier than you and had lost that much in 3 months. HERE is the OH Post-Op planner. It was pretty accurate for me.

I am confused with this calculator.  I put my beginning weight in of 307 and I am 5 7 in height.  If I go by that calculator the way I am reading it I wont even get below 200.  That doesn't seem right to me.  Almost everyone on here gets below 200 am I seeing something wrong on this?

I agree that chart never had me reaching my goal weight.

Same here-maybe they're being conservative on purpose?

What % of excess weight did you put in? I put in 339 as my highest, I am 5'7", and put 100% and it gave my goal as 147 which gives me a  BMI of 23. I maintain around 140.

ETA, I just played around on it and any starting weight I chose gave me an ideal weight of 147 for someone 5'7" tall, just FYI

It is quite doable.

It seems very doable to me too. I started out smaller than you 260 but lost 52 pounds by 3 months post op. I know it's hard to believe but you will be amazed!

I lost 92 pounds by my 8th month out.  50 pounds in 4 months sounds just about right on.

edited because i just realized March 4th, 2015 is more like three months.  Still doable.  I was small than you are, and a revision, so I would have lost at a slower pace.
